Swatch Candle Dinner Watch

Bought: $16.94 Sold: $49.99 Fees: $5.47 Profit: $27.58
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.38

This is a women's Swatch watch that was released for Valentine's day in 2005. It had some wear, but still a nice piece. It is frustrating that VV has started to increase the price for Swatches, often charging $15 or $25 for some of them now. Some Swatches are still worth buying at that price to resell but many aren't, and since these are often behind glass at the store they are difficult to look up requiring me to take chances on them. Thankfully this one was worth it.

Commissioned Sale: Two Disney Pins

Sale Price: $19.98 Fees:$5.32 Profit: $14.66
My 30% cut of the Profit: $4.39

A buyer bought two Disney pins for $9.99 each, and combined shipping. I was (and still am) hoping that more buyers would want to combine shipping making the pins more affordable.

Where The Wild Things Are Plush Doll Monster Maurice

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $15.00 Fees: $1.35 Profit: $9.14

This is a plus doll of Maurice, one of the monsters from Where the Wild Things are. I picked it up at VV and was sure it would be worth flipping, but unfortunately it seems to only sell for about $20. Someone from Ottawa messaged me offering me $15 and asked if she could pick it up locally, so that was lucky.

Emporio Armani Men's Collared Shirt

Bought: $13.55 Sold: $36.00 Fees: $4.20 Profit: $18.25

A few months ago I decided to see if I could try to find clothes to flip, and while I bought about a dozen things to try and sell, I quickly realized it wasn't for me. A lot of people do quite well selling clothes on eBay secondhand, and there is a large market for it. That being said, there are few reasons why it doesn't work for me: 1) I'm in Canada, and shipping with CanadaPost compared to USPS is extraordinarily more expensive. Mailing a shirt like this from a US address to a US address with USPS would be $2-3. For me to mail this shirt from Canada to the US was $13. So, shipping costs on small light items really hurts your ability to be competitive, which brings me to 2) the market for clothing is flooded. It is really hard for your listing to stand out among the other 1,000. Most of what I sell has less than a dozen other listings and I am selling to collectors who know exactly what they are looking for, and 3) clothing prices at thrift stores here are not conducive to reselling unless you find really high end designer labels. I spent more on this shirt than I spend on most of my hard goods. I'm glad this sold, and I'm glad I made a profit, but I'm just more glad that my experiment into clothing flipping wasn't a complete failure.

Fisher Price Precious Places Silver Bells Wedding Chapel

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $40.00 Fees: $4.75 Profit: $30.74

This was a complete Fisher Price Precious Places Wedding Chapel play set. I remember these from when I was a kid. The people were magnetic and you could move them around by using the key under the building. I was surprised to find this so cheap, but it sat for months listed (almost always with watchers) until I got an offer today. The woman offered $40 but said that she really wanted to offer $30 USD and was only making the offer of $40 CDN if that was the correct exchange rate (thankfully it was). Glad to see this big box gone.

Commissioned Sale: Pinky and the Brain Pin

Sale Price: $14.99 Fees:$3.16 Profit: $11.83
My 30% cut of the Profit: $3.55

I think this was the only Warner Brothers pin in the lot, and I think one of the coolest pins that I listed. It is Pinky and the Brain trapped in a bottle. It's a really nifty pin.

February 2017 Recap

I sold 26 items.

I spent $118.72 on those items.
I sold those items for $811.88
I paid $94.71 in fees to eBay.
I made a profit of $598.45

I sold 8 things on consignment and made $49.49

From my Flipping Experiment with Chris:
We sold 11 items
We sold these items for $873.31
We paid $163.78 in fees to eBay.
We made a profit of $709.53 - meaning $354.76 each

My total profit this month was $1002.70

The slow season has started, and if it wasn't for the great sales from the items in the storage locker I would have barely broken $600 this month. I'm hoping that March brings with it some more sales, but I'm not holding my breath. At least sales have been consistent with about one sale a day.
