Walt Disney's Uncle Scrooge No 379

Bought: $3.47 Sold: $9.99 Fees: $2.05 Profit: $4.47

I picked up a number of these Disney Uncle Scrooge Comic trade paperbacks. Some of them looked like they would sell well. This one was the cheapest one, so figures it would sell first, but I still made a small profit on it. I'm hoping I do a lot better with the others.

Flying Pirates Game

Bought: $6.78 Sold: $30.00 Fees: $3.92 Profit: $19.30

This is a game that doesn't show very often so it goes for a fair price. It is a balancing game and a lot of the pieces are often missing. This copy was almost complete and it sold for a good price.

Sony Boombox

Bought: $14.68 Sold: $34.99 Fees: $2.99 Profit: $17.32

This is a Sony Boombox, and the only reason I paid so much for it is that if it is working it can sell for over $100. Sadly, it wasn't fully functional - the tape deck wouldn't play any tapes. That being said, I listed it "for parts / as is" in an attempt to recoup my investment and priced it low. It sold, and considering that it weighs almost 5 kg, shipping was more expensive than the machine. I hope the buyer is able to fix it and is able to use it.

Sony Walkman

Bought: $6.77 Sold: $49.99 Fees: $3.65 Profit: $39.57

Haven't sold one of these in a while, but glad to see they are still selling, and a decent price. I find that the classic yellow Sony walkmans sell best.

Flipping Experiment #1: Comic and Anime statues, comics and posters - Month #11

March 30th - Guilty Gear X Baiken Figure

Sold for: $250.00 Fees: $36.43

This was a figure that I had up for $500 and it was the only one on eBay. Today I got an offer of $250, and so I checked eBay and one sold recently for $250, and considering I just made up the price, figured that was a fair price. It's nice to sell one for this price. This is now officially our most profitable month from this lot.

The Numbers:
Initial Cost: $2,000
Number of items sold in March: 14
Number of items sold overall: 77
Gross Profit for March: $1,017.95
Fees to eBay: $159.86
Net Profit for March: $858.09
Net Overall Profit: $2283.53

Chris and I have recouped our initial investment, and each made a profit of $1141.76

March 3rd - WildStorm Fine Arts The Gallery Collection
Sold for: $24.99 Fees: $4.93

This is a collection of artwork from Wildstorm comics. I am actually pretty surprised this sold since artwork books don't tend to sell that well and Wildstorm is a smaller comic house. That being said, always glad to see a sale.

March 7th - The Supernaturals #1
Sold for: $19.99 Fees: $4.50

This was a Marvel comic, #1 in a limited series, which would normally have not much value at all. The only reason I priced it the way that I did was that this is a variant cover drawn by Greg Capullo, who is rather popular and I was hoping that would draw someone to this comic and it seems to have worked.

March 7th - Two Marvel Posters
Sold for: $325.00 Fees: $44.79

Sold two of these large vintage Marvel posters to the same buyer. I had these listed for $200 each, and took an offer of $175 and $150. These are great sales and I'm glad I listed them so high. When Chris and I were going through the locker contents, I knew that these posters were some of the best finds. We had three of these large Marvel posters, and I've already sold the third for $200. All in, these three posters made us back 1/4 the cost of the locker - one three pieces of paper!

March 9th - Vertigo Death Poster
Sold for: $35.00 Fees: $6.37

Another poster sale, this one of Death from the Vertigo series Sandman. A very nice poster, and not a terrible price.

March 12th - Lot of 21 Dynamic Forces Comics
Sold for: $10.00 Fees: $3.70

When Chris and I sorted the comics we had a number of ones that weren't worth selling on their own, or were duplicates. We decided instead of throwing them out we would list them for cheap as one lot of 21 comics. I listed them for $20 but took an offer of $10 because we just wanted them gone and wanted to sell everything in the storage locker and not have to throw anything away. Each of these comics were a Dynamic Forces limited edition. When the originally owner bought these in the 90's he would have paid between $5-20 for each one of these comics. This is the epitome of the 90's speculation bubble, and is a great example of why even limited edition comics aren't worth much - it doesn't matter how rare or unique a comic is, you need someone who wants it. The buyer sells comics on eBay so he will likely resell these which is fine, if he can find a way to make a profit on these more power to him

March 17th - Evil Ernie #1 Limited Edition Variant

Sold for: $14.99 Fees: $3.06

This is the first issue of Evil Ernie, a series by Chaos Comics from the 1990's. It was recently relaunched, which probably helped making this sale. This was a limited edition variant cover. $15 for a comic is always nice, and while the comics are selling slowly they continue to add up.

March 18th - Two Marvel X-Men Posters
Sold for: $80.00 Fees: $12.63

Sold two Marvel X-Men posters to the same guy (one for $25 and one for $55). The one on the left was one of the worst damaged posters (was squished while rolled up) and we had two of them and sold both now. The one on the right was in pretty good shape, and is a good graphic.

March 20th - Wildcats Poster
Sold for: $33.00 Fees: $6.61

Another poster sold! These have been selling quite well. We should have listed these sooner.

March 26th - Three WWE DIVAS Magazines

Sold for: $29.99 Fees: $5.30

These were three WWW Divas magazines. Wouldn't normally have thought these would sell, but figure it couldn't hurt to lot them together, plus I wanted to attempt to sell everything in the locker and throw nothing out. They sold for a pretty good price for old magazines.

March 26th - Witchblade Mini Statue
Sold for: $80.00 Fees: $11.32

Another statue sold! It's been a while since a statue sold, so I'm glad to see another moving.

March 26th - Lot of 4 Lady Death Judgement War Comics

Sold for: $30.00 Fees: $5.17

With this sale, we have now officially doubled our investment! We have now netted back our initial $2,000 investment and made an additional $2,000 profit! There is still a lot of stuff to sell, and so this is not even close to being the end point. $2,000 was a lot to invest into one lot when I had no real clear idea on how well the items would sell, but I trusted my gut and it has paid off.

March 27th - Lady Death Poster
Sold for: $24.99 Fees: $5.53

Glad to see some of the posters of more obscure characters selling. These don't bring in the same high dollars as the Marvel ones, but they are still selling and I'm happy to see them flying out the door.

March 27th - Sailor Moon Poster

Sold for: $60.00 Fees: $9.52
As I've learned, vintage sailor moon stuff is collectible and can fetch a high price. This poster had a lot of watchers and a lot of offers, but it took a while to get one I was satisfied with. This posted was badly damaged - it's made out of thick cardstock and was bent quite badly while rolled up and they have creased - and would been worth a lot more had it been in mint shape. That being said, very glad to get this price for it.

LOTR Strategy Guide

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $11.99 Fees: $2.08 Profit: $5.40

This is a game guide to the Games Workshop miniature game of LOTR. I picked this up and put it in my basket to look up, but forgot to and just paid for it with everything else I bought that day. It doesn't have a great ROI, and I wouldn't have normally bought it, so I am thankful it sold. It is going to someone in Costa Rica through a mail forwarder in Florida.

Maltby Xtreme Moment High M.O.I. Design Golf Putter

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $49.99 Fees: $6.09 Profit: $38.26

I found this golf putter at VV and knew right away I had to buy it. The head on this thing is huge! It measures 3.5" x 7"! It is one of those putters that claim it will fix your putting, which I hear is a common problem (golf isn't really my sport). I would have listed it higher, but $50 seemed reasonable and plus shipping to the states was rather expensive - the winner was in California and paid $68 to ship this. The box for this was my biggest franken-box yet, and I'm really hoping it survives the trip.

WHOLETONES The Healing frequency Music Project

Bought: $9.03 Sold: $67.50 Fees: $7.39 Profit: $51.08

I saw this on the shelf of VV among the DVDs, and it stuck out to me, so I grabbed it and looked it up and saw that it sold quite well. It is a series of 7 CDs of various frequencies that I guess are supposed to help calm you down? Or something. Anyways, an easy sale with a good return.

Little Tikes Play Furniture

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $15.00 Fees: $2.35 Profit: $12.65

Chris picked up a bag of Little Tikes furniture and it had 27 pieces in it, and I have it one up for sale as one giant lot. Someone messaged me asking if I would sell her just these two, the pool and the turtle sandbox, out of the lot. I actually had two copies of both these, so I agreed. I amended the original lot down to 25 items, and created a new listing for these two. I didn't change the price of the other lot, and I'm confident I'll get my asking eventually, so this sale was essentially free money.

WDW Hidden Mickey PIN

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $24.99 Fees: $3.34 Profit: $17.14

Shortly after I got all those Disney pins to sell on commission I found this at a VV for $4. I instantly knew what it was, and it was actually a hidden mickey pin. I looked it up and saw that it actually went for a fair amount. I'm glad it sold, and I'm glad I'm getting all the profits and not just 30% for this one.

Wrebbit The All Paper Clock

Bought: $15.50 Sold: $54.99 Fees: $6.09 Profit: $33.40

This was an open box but new all paper clock model. I bought it for $5, but it didn't have the manual though and knew it would sell for more with it, so I bought the manual online for $10 and had it shipped to Chris in Florida when he was there on vacation. So I spent more on this than I would have liked, but the $10 additional cost allowed me to sell it for more than I otherwise would have, so it was worth it. A week after I posted this, I actually found a second opened box but new copy of this with the manual this time for $5, so I have another one to sell that I will make an even better profit on.

Marvel Legends Icon Series X-Men Beast w/ Lab Coat

Bought: $6.32 Sold: $37.50 Fees: $4.42 Profit: $26.76

This is a loose Marvel action figure of Beast that was in a display case at VV for $6. I looked it up and realized it was worth the high price tag. It sat for a few months and had a lot of watchers, but only ever low offers. Last night I was offered $28 with the note "US dollars", so I sent back a counter-offer with the converted rated to Canadian and it sold.

Commissioned Sale: Dr. Pepper Pin

Sale Price: $14.99 Fees:$3.59 Profit: $11.40
My 30% cut of the Profit: $3.42

Another non-Disney pin, and another very cool one.

Saturday, March 25, 2017

Commissioned Sale: Speedy Gonzales Pin

Sale Price: $14.99 Fees:$3.58 Profit: $11.41
My 30% cut of the Profit: $3.42

Not a Disney pin, but was among the Disney pins to sell. I wish there had been more Warner Brothers pins in the lot, as they are a lot less common and sell rather well.

Lot of 10 Viewmaste reels

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $14.99 Fees: $2.40 Profit: $8.08
Chris' 5% Commission: $0.40

Chris picked up these Viewmaster reels at VV. They were together in a bag, and figured it was worth a shot. Some of the reels can be valuable, and if not, I can keep them until I get enough to lot together. None of these 10 were particularly rare, but put them up for $15 and they sold. Not a huge profit, but always worth taking risks and always nice to not to lose money.

Schleich 42034 Oracle

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $15.00 Fees: $2.12 Profit: $8.37

This is an complete Schleich Oracle set. I've sold a number of these now, usually for $40-50, but this set was missing a few pieces. Despite that I had it listed and it has consistently had 4-5 watchers for months, but never any interested. Yesterday a woman offered to buy just the crystals from it, which is what I sold her, and the rest I'll donate back. Made a small profit, and it's out of my inventory. I could sell the rest without the crystals but I don't think there would be any demand.

Commissioned Sale: All 11 Amazing Spider-Man Marvel Essentials

Sale Price: $178.56 Fees:$24.10 Profit: $145.46
My 50% cut of the Profit: $77.23

Chris had collected these Amazing Spider-Man Marvel Essentials over the years but asked me to sell them when he moved. I listed them together and was asking $250, but took a best offer of $178 (it came to $200 with shipping). Glad to have this very large box gone, and it's a nice profit for both of us.

Completed Needlepoint

Bought: $6.78 Sold: $45.00 Fees: $5.02 Profit: $33.20

I found this really awesome completed needlepoint of a sad clown. I couldn't pass it up. I've read that completed needlepoint can sell well, and considering my mom does needlepoint I know how much work goes into these. It is pretty hard to find comps for this, so I just listed it for $50 and took an offer of $45. I will be keeping an eye out for interesting completed needlepoint in the future for sure.

Commissioned Sale: Disney WDW Frontierland Pin

Sale Price: $4.99 Fees:$2.32 Profit: $2.67
My 30% cut of the Profit: $0.80

Sold another Disney pin. This only sold for $4.99, which with eBay and Paypal fees doesn't leave a lot of meat on the bone. I may end up loting up a lot of the $5 pins together so that people can save on shipping and so that I can save on fees so I make a better return.

Commissioned Sale: Frankenstein Marvel Illustrated Novel

Sale Price: $19.99 Fees:$4.07 Profit: $15.92
My 50% cut of the Profit: $7.96

Another trade paperback that Chris asked me to sell for him - actually this is an illustrated novel. Marvel released a number of these in the 1980's where they drew comics of famous classic literature.

Commissioned Sale: Hard Boiled TPB

Sale Price: $19.99 Fees:$4.50 Profit: $15.49
My 50% cut of the Profit: $7.75

This is a trade paperback that Chris picked up at VV a few years ago and when he moved gave it to me to sell for him. I'm shocked it took this long to sell considering it was by Frank Miller.

3D Sculpture Puzzle THE BALD EAGLE

Bought: $9.03 Sold: $29.99 Fees: $4.45 Profit: $16.51

I've had this puzzle for a long time - I was starting to think it would never sell. It was used but nearly entirely complete (it was just missing the top piece which is pretty unnecessary). I would never pay $9 for an item now for only a profit of $30. I'm always glad when these older things sell.

Feudal Avalon Hill Board Game

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $29.99 Fees: $3.88 Profit: $21.60
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.08

Another Avalon Hill board game sold! I always love selling these, but I am running out of them! I think I only have two left. I'm hoping with garage sale season coming up that I'll find more to add to my inventory. This one sold to a doctor in Toronto - fancy!

Thursday, March 16, 2017

CERRUTI 1881 Sweater

Bought: $13.55 Sold: $25.00 Fees: $3.22 Profit: $8.23

A sweater I picked up when I was trying to see if clothes flipping was possible. I've found it's not for me, and so just glad for things to sell and recoup my investment.

Monday, March 13, 2017

SONY CMT-NEZ3 MICRO HI-FI COMPONENT SYSTEM

Bought: $50.00* Sold: $119.99 Fees: $12.97 Profit: $57.02

This is the last thing that I had left to sell from my mom's friend who asked me to help her sell some of her stuff before she moved out to BC. I got the stuff to sell for her last March, but this sat unlisted in my basement until the fall. I finally listed it on eBay in the fall and it sold this week. Not a bad sale at all, especially since it cost me nothing (the bought price is her cut of the sale).

Girl Talk Date Line Board Game

Bought: $3.00 Sold: $44.99 Fees: $5.27 Profit: $36.72

This is a board game, an update on the original game Girl Talk. Any female-orientated board game is worth looking up if you come across at a thrift store, some of them have good nostalgic value and have good resell value.

Commissioned Sale: WDW First Day January 1, 2000 FAB 5 Pin

Sale Price: $30.00 Fees:$5.50 Profit: $24.50
My 30% cut of the Profit: $7.35

This pin was released on January 1st, 2000 to celebrate the park's first day of the new millennium. This pin has an error though - the word January is written wrong. This was originally a limited edition pin of 5,000, but once they realized the mistake they destroyed the unsold ones with an estimated 1,500 pins being in circulation. Not a bad price for a single pin.

The Filmbook of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings

Bought: $2.50 Sold: $4.99 Fees: $2.02 Profit: $0.47

This was one of the books I picked up at that giant book sale I attended a few years ago. I was overwhelmed by the number of people at it and the sheer number of books, so I grabbed a few that I thought may be worth something. I realised that a lot of them weren't worth much, but I listed them cheap trying to recoup my cost. This one I made a very small profit on, but it is going to a school in Nunavut! I imagine it's going into the school library which makes me feel good about the sale, and I would gladly have lost money if it meant the book was getting a good home in a school library in a remote northern community.

Dragon Age Set 1

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $50.00 Fees: $5.85 Profit: $38.51

This is an RPG box set meant for people who want to learn the dynamics of an RPG (like Dungeons and Dragons) but in a more structured way. It is essentially a mix between D&D and board games. It was in great shape and looked to have never been used.

Dungeons and Dragons Castle Guide

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $14.99 Fees: $2.66 Profit: $12.33

One of the many D&D books I got in a lot that I've since more than made back my investment on. Always nice when these sell.

Thursday, March 9, 2017

Commissioned Sale: Four Disney McDonald's Pocahontas Employee Promo Pins

Sale Price: $16.00 Fees:$3.72 Profit: $12.28
My 30% cut of the Profit: $3.68

These are some of the coolest pins that I think of the ones I had to sell. A nice set for sure.

Wednesday, March 8, 2017

Commissioned Sale: Four Disney McDonald's Dinosaur Pins

Sale Price: $33.52 Fees:$5.95 Profit: $27.57
My 30% cut of the Profit: $8.27

This was four Disney Dinosaur pins that were worn by employees of McDonald's. I'm happy with the price, and made decent commission.

Tuesday, March 7, 2017

Apple Mighty Mouse

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $29.99 Fees: $3.68 Profit: $21.80
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.09

I've had this for a few months, but Apple things always sell eventually. This is a bluetooth mouse that Chris picked up for $4, sold it for $30. Not a bad profit and its small and takes up little place. Always on the look out for Apple products.

Commissioned Sale: Mickey Mouse as Uncle Sam Trading Pin

Sale Price: $9.99 Fees:$2.96 Profit: $7.03
My 30% cut of the Profit: $2.11

Another Disney pin sold, this one of Mickey dressed as Uncle Sam.

Monday, March 6, 2017

Marvel Legends Series V Blade Action Figure

Bought: $9.03 Sold: $40.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $30.97
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.55

Chris picked up this still in package Marvel action figure of Blade. I had it listed on eBay, and someone locally messaged me asking to buy it locally. I gave him a deal on it, and then he says he can't get downtown to pick it up and asks if I can drop it off. I normally wouldn't, but it was on my way home so I did. I'm clearly eager for sales.

Sunday, March 5, 2017

Swatch Candle Dinner Watch

Bought: $16.94 Sold: $49.99 Fees: $5.47 Profit: $27.58
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.38

This is a women's Swatch watch that was released for Valentine's day in 2005. It had some wear, but still a nice piece. It is frustrating that VV has started to increase the price for Swatches, often charging $15 or $25 for some of them now. Some Swatches are still worth buying at that price to resell but many aren't, and since these are often behind glass at the store they are difficult to look up requiring me to take chances on them. Thankfully this one was worth it.
