Lot of 4 Flintstones Charlton Comics

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $20.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $20.00

These also came from the church rummage sale and was bought by that local guy. I can't complain about this price for these comics. I'm happy with it.

Gold Key Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids #15 Comic

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $9.99 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $9.99

This was one of the comics I got from the church rummage sale last spring and long ago made back my investment, so this was pure profit and since a local sale no eBay fees. I'll gladly take $10 for a comic any day.

Vintage He-Man Masters of the Universe puzzle

Bought: $1.12 Sold: $19.99 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $18.87

Another item bought the guy locally, this is a small He Man puzzle. He apparently quite enjoys small puzzles and was quite excited to start building it.

Commissioned Sale: Marvel Chili #3

Sale Price: $9.99 Fees:$0.00 Profit: $9.99
My 30% cut of the Profit: $2.99

This was another comic I rescued from Hayley's garage. Bought by the guy locally so no fees, which is always nice.

Commissioned Sale: Last Issue Toronto Telegram

Sale Price: $20.00 Fees:$0.00 Profit: $20.00
My 50% cut of the Profit: $10.00

The same person who bought the Snoopy phone a few weeks ago emailed indicating a desire to buy a number of things, and asked me to hold them until today when he got his pension cheque. Not sure these items are the best way to spend his pension, but who am I to judge? This was a newspaper, the last issue of the Toronto Telegram, that Chris picked up at a flea marker years ago and asked me to sell for him when he moved.

Flipping Experiment #1: Comic and Anime statues, comics and posters - Month #10

February 27th - X-Men Poster
Sold for: $26.00 Fees: $5.24

This was a poster we had actually two copies, but they were both in the worst shape of all the posters. They had been squished while rolled up and so the poster is bent and creased every few inches from where it was rolled. That's why it sold for so little, but glad to see despite being damaged it still sold.

The Numbers:
Initial Cost: $2,000
Number of items sold in February: 11
Number of items sold overall: 63
Gross Profit for February: $873.31
Fees to eBay: $163.78
Net Profit for February: $709.53
Net Overall Profit: $1425.53

Chris and I have recouped our initial investment, and each made a profit of $712.76

February 1st - Two Marvel Posters
Sold for: $100.00 Fees: $14.93

These are two Marvel posters from the late 1980's. Neither had been hung, and both were in pretty good condition. Such classic icon 80's artwork. The same guy bought both, and after two weeks finally paid. I'm glad to get this price for them. Hopefully the rest continue to sell this well.

February 2nd - Shi Sculpture
Sold for: $150.00 Fees: $28.83

One of the more expensive statues sold, which is a nice way to start February. This is a limited edition statue of Shi from 1999. This was a rather large statue, so glad to free up some space in my storage and make a few hundred bucks at the same time.

February 6th - Two Posters
Yesterday Chris and I finished photographing, packaging and listing the remaining 20-odd posters. After 10 months, every single item from this lot is now posted. Within 24 hours, two of the new posters sold.
Sold for: $40.00 Fees: $7.49

This first one is a door poster and is quite long (70" long in fact) and features Fairchild. The poster was in remarkably good condition. I was asking $50, but took a best offer of $40. Probably could have held out for more, but shipping to the states was $30 for this poster due to the length exceeding the maximum dimensions for the cheaper shipping option, so I didn't have to find someone willing to pay $50 for a poster, I had to find someone willing to pay $80 and I wasn't willing to wait that long for that buyer.

Sold for: $200.00 Fees: $27.83

This was a giant poster (58" x 30") and was in amazing condition. This was one of three giant posters of this size that we got in the lot, and all of them were X-Men in classic 80s and 90s artwork. None of them had any comparables on eBay, and I couldn't find them on Google. I put up all three for $200 and figured I'd take offers. Someone bought this one at my asking price in less than 24 hours. This was a great sale. One item, one piece of paper, paid for 10% of the locker. I'm glad we finally got around to listing this as it was a great sale.

February 7th - Shi Poster
Sold for: $85.00 Fees: $13.14

This is another poster that we posted on Sunday, so it sold quickly for a very good price. This is a really large poster as well (6' x 2') featuring SHI with a baby tiger.

February 7th - Lady Death Trading Card Sealed Box Set
Sold for: $174.99 Fees: $30.30

This is an unopened box of Lady Death Trading Cards from 1999. This box contains 36 packs of 6 cards. There were none on eBay, so I just put a high price expecting to take offers, but someone bought it outright at full price. Trading Cards don't usually contain any value, but sealed boxes hold some value to the right buyer - someone who wants to open those packs and hope he gets some rare card. I'm still quite shocked this actually sold for this price.

February 9th - Vampirella Poster
Sold for: $30.00 Fees: $5.74

Another poster sale, this one of a live model dressed as Vampirella. I can't see why Robin didn't want to let me keep this one to hang on our wall...

February 12 - Danger Girl Poster
Sold for: $50.00 Fees: $8.62

This is a Danger Girl poster drawn in the style of a Bond theme. It was in pretty good condition, and sold for a good price.

February 16th - Danger Girl Door Poster
Sold for: $30.00 Fees: $5.94

A return customer! The person who bought the Fairchild door poster bought this Danger Girl one the day after they received the first one. They didn't leave feedback, but I'm assuming they are happy with it if they are buying this one. Not a huge sale, but Danger Girl isn't that popular, and I'm just happy to see posters selling.

February 24th - Vamps & Vixens Art Book
Sold for: $49.99 Fees: $8.38

We had a number of these in the lots - large poster size books featuring artwork done by various artists. This one was a book of "seductive art" by Dave Stevens. It was in really good shape except for a bent front cover corner. A pretty good price for this, I'm pretty happy with this sale.

Commissioned Sale: DC The Flash #161 Comic

Sale Price: $9.00 Fees:$3.30 Profit: $5.70
My 30% cut of the Profit: $1.71

This is another one of the comics I rescued from Hayley's garage and was selling for here. It was in really bad condition with water damage, the cover loose from the pages and a lot of creases and folds, but it still brought $9 which is good for a comic book. I've now sold 5 comics for Hayley (with 7 left to sell) and she's made $70.

Commissioned Sale: Disney WDW Epcot EST 1982 Mickey Trading Pin

Sale Price: $24.99 Fees:$4.86 Profit: $20.13
My 30% cut of the Profit: $6.04

Another Disney pin sold. This was a pricey one. Two pins sold while I was gone (well one right before I left for the airport) for a total of $50 (netting me $12). That's great for two small pins. While I would love to be getting all 100% of the profits, 30% works out considering how many pins there are and now that they are all posted it is nice easy passive income.

Sales From Mexico

Robin and I spent the last week on holiday in Mexico, and it was lovely. Chris helped out and mailed things for me that sold while I was away. This earned him 10% of all sales during the week (on top of any commissions he made from items he found), totaling $17.02. He was rather upset with my storage method, and had issues finding some things. I badly need to re-organize my storage so someone other than myself can find stuff. That being said, it was a slow but steady week of sales with seven sales.

Mega Bloks Pirates Singapore
Bought: $3.94* Sold: $25.00 Fees: $3.42 Profit: $17.64

This was my last near complete Mega Bloks Pirates of the Caribbean set. I picked up a large box of random pieces and pieced them into sets best I could. The price "bought" for this one was all that was left of the original price that previous sales had not recouped. I still have one lot for sale which is a lot of random pieces that don't quite make up any one set. Glad to have this finally sell, and if that other lot would sell I'd be even happier.

Swatch Watch - Running Water (LS103)
Bought: $1.57 Sold: $30.00 Fees: $3.67 Profit: $24.76
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.23

Another Swatch sale, this one was picked up by Chris. Not worth a whole lot, but when you can find Swatches for under $2, it is worth it. This one was sold to a guy in Ottawa who originally wanted to do local pickup but once released it was in Nepean, was fine with it being mailed.

Molson Live Headphones
Bought: $2.25 Sold: $6.99 Fees: $1.72 Profit: $3.03

I got these a really long time ago, I think almost two years ago. They came in a hanging baggie with something else that I wanted, which sold quite quickly, but I divided the price of the bag between both items and listed this anyways. It finally sold, which was a surprise, and not a lot of profit, but it was better than throwing it out.

Picket Microline Log Ruler
Bought: $3.16 Sold: $19.99 Fees: $2.77 Profit: $14.06

I've had this log ruler for a long time. I've only ever found two of these, and they can sell quite well. This one was plastic and not very complex, so it didn't fetch a whole lot, but it sold. I would love to find more of these.

Pokemon Master Trainer Board Game
Bought: $5.00 Sold: $104.99 Fees: $11.36 Profit: $88.63

This is the best selling Pokemon board game. It was been reprinted (with an orange box) which doesn't sell as well as this original. I've sold one of these before, but a few weeks ago someone posted on Kijiji asking $5, so I quickly emailed him and drove over at 9 p.m. to buy it. It had a $3 VV sticker on it, so he must have bought it years ago, played it and then sold it at a profit to him without realizing it was worth even more. It was thankfully complete and in great shape, so a very nice sale. The best sale of the week.

Playmobil Esso Station Pieces
Bought: $11.29 Sold: $20.00 Fees: $3.03 Profit: $5.68

I bought this almost two years ago. It is parts to a Playmobil Esso station, but wasn't complete. Chris found this at VV when I was with him and I was hesitant at the price tag (I still can't believe I paid that), but he was sure it would sell. It unfortunately wasn't close to complete, but I listed it anyways. It sold finally and made back my investment, but not much more.

Supernatural Clue
Bought: $3.94 Sold: $25.00 Fees: $3.38 Profit: $17.68

This is a Clue game that is based around the TV show Supernatural. The only times I would buy American board games (Clue, Risk, Monopoly, etc) are when they are themed. This one didn't demand a huge price, but almost $20 profit isn't bad and it didn't sit that long.

Commissioned Sale: Disney DisneyQuest Orlando Pin

Sale Price: $24.99 Fees:$4.86 Profit: $20.13
My 30% cut of the Profit: $6.04

Another pin sold, this one actually sold in the night right before we left for Mexico so when I woke up at 3 am I quickly packed this up and left for Chris to mail with whatever else sold.

Drakkhen Atari ST Game

Bought: $2.25 Sold: $26.00 Fees: $3.30 Profit: $20.45

This was an Atari computer game that I found hanging in a baggie at VV, and for $2 was a quick grab.

Thursday, February 16, 2017

Peter Gabriel New Blood Tour 2011 Messenger Bag

Bought: $6.00 Sold: $30.00 Fees: $3.74 Profit: $20.26

This was the second one of these that I've sold now (I only had two). These were the last things I bought at the Goodwill store here before it closed. I'm glad they both sold and made a decent profit.

Campaigns of King David: The Biblical Struggle for the Near East Board Game

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $30.00 Fees: $3.75 Profit: $21.74

This is a board game that is based around the biblical wars of King David. It was complete and unpunched, so essentially brand new. Not a huge profit, but board games continue to do very well for me.

Vintage Beverly Hills 90210 Fanny Pack

Bought: $3.15 Sold: $19.99 Fees: $2.76 Profit: $14.08

I picked up this retro 90210 fanny pack because it was too cool and unique to leave behind. It had a broken clip, but I figured it was pretty one of a kind 27 years after it was sold. I listed it for $20 since I figured unlikely anyone would pay more for it. It sat for a few months and had a lot of watchers, but finally sold today. The buyer's address is a clothing company that sells "recycled" vintage clothing, so not sure if they bought it to resell, or if an employee there bought it for himself and just likes vintage clothing. I can't imagine there is much meat left on the bones to resell this after they pay for shipping.

Lot of 357 Arcadia The Wyld Hunt Card Game

Bought: $10.00 Sold: $99.99 Fees: $10.05 Profit: $79.94

I was driving to Robin's office one night for a party and she told me to come for a certain time, and then on my way she called to tell me to come 30 minutes later. I took the chance to stop into SVdP, and I picked up this binder filled with cards for $10. I wasn't sure what game they were for, but there were a lot of them, so I figured I'd take the risk. It turns out they were cards from a collectible card game from the 1990's called Arcadia The Wyld Hunt. It had 357 out of the 377 cards in the base set. I made a listing and listed all the cards and put it up for auction for $99. It had a lot of watchers but no bidders. I then put it up for BIN for $99, and waited. It took a few months to sell but it finally sold at full asking price.

Dungeoneer Realm of the Ice Witch Card Game

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $39.00 Fees: $4.47 Profit: $30.02

This is a small card game expansion that is now out of print. There were none of this expansion on eBay so listed it for $50, and took a best offer of $39. A pretty good sale for a $4 item.

Dragon Canadian Infantry Model Kit

Bought: $3.15 Sold: $30.00 Fees: $4.04 Profit: $22.81
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.14

This was another model kit that Chris picked up at VV along with all the others, although the buyer of the others wasn't interested in this one. It sold for a good price. I'm happy with that!

Vintage Snoopy Peanuts telephone bank

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $20.00 Fees: $1.80 Profit: $12.56

I have been sitting on this vintage Snoopy phone and bank combo since I started back in 2015. I couldn't believe it wasn't worth more, and it sat for so long. I was contacted by someone locally asking if I would take $20 and if they could pick it up. I jumped on it to get it out. They also indicated a desire to buy a bunch of other low-dollar items I have listed at the end of the month when they get their pension cheque, so hopefully I'll move those then.

JAMS WORLD Men's Shirt

Bought: $10.16 Sold: $35.00 Fees: $4.11 Profit: $20.73

So, back in November I decided to try and see if I could find clothing to sell. I bought about 10 things, and this was the first to sell. I realised it is not for me. It is very tedious looking for stuff, and a pain to list. The market for used clothing is huge on eBay, so tons of competition. Most clothing doesn't sell for a ton, and prices for used clothing at thrift stores in Ottawa are pretty high not leaving much room for profit. I know that some people make a living on eBay just selling clothes, but they buy clothes by the pound for pennies and sell a huge amount for cheap which adds up. So I have given up on clothing unless something is particularly unique or interesting. Anyways, this is a Hawaiian shirt by the company Jam's World, and it sold, so I'm happy to have it gone and made some profit.

2nd Cariboo game sold today

Bought: $6.78 Sold: $29.99 Fees: $4.31 Profit: $18.90

This was my last copy. I'll have to find more of these to sell.

Cariboo

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $29.99 Fees: $4.46 Profit: $19.89
Chris' 5% Commission: $0.99

Another Cariboo game sold today. These are for sure the items I've sold the most of. Consistently sell quickly and for about $30. If I can find them for $6 or less they are worth buying just because of how fast they sell, and how consistently they sell.

Commissioned Sale: Disney McDonald's McDolympic Pin

Sale Price: $15.00 Fees:$3.59 Profit: $11.41
My 30% cut of the Profit: $3.42

Another of the Disney pins sold. The buyer who bought four of them a few weeks ago was apparently pleasantly surprised with the condition, and decided to buy this one as well. I'm quite confident this is also an un-official pin, but he seemed happy with the other un-official ones, so I'm not too worried.

Reboot Mainframe Game

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $25.00 Fees: $3.85 Profit: $16.64
Chris' 5% Commission: $0.83

This is a board game from the Canadian TV show Reboot. I've never heard of this game, and I doubt it had a wide release, considering the show only aired in Canada. I was asking $40, but got an offer of $25 and he refused to go any higher. I probably could have sat on it for more, but this would be a really long tail item and I may sit on it for years so decided to take the profit and move on.

Sunday, February 5, 2017

Commissioned Sale: Disney Pin

Sale Price: $4.99 Fees:$2.32 Profit: $2.67
My 30% cut of the Profit: $0.80

Another Disney pin sold. This one only sold for $4.99, which is the lowest price point I put for any of the pins. A number of the pins are at this price point, although there are a lot higher than this. While $0.80 isn't a lot to make on one sale, I have 322 pins listed currently (with more to list), so even if I made only $0.80 a pin I'd make over $250, but thankfully a lot of the pins sell for more than this, so I'm not too worried.

Clue The Great Museum Caper Board Game

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $29.99 Fees: $3.86 Profit: $20.49
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.02

This is an interesting 1990's board game. While it bears the "clue" name, it actually has nothing to do with the clue game. They just bought the rights to the game and sold it under the name to increase sales. It has decent rankings, and apparently is a fun game. I'd rather sell it than play it.

Saturday, February 4, 2017

Monster Mash Game

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $29.99 Fees: $4.11 Profit: $21.37
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.07

This is the second time I've sold this game, and it sold in under a week. I had this when I was a kid and I remember it being a fun game. Not a huge profit, but any game that sells quickly and I can make $20 on isn't bad.

Red Storm Rising Board Game

Bought: $10.00 Sold: $40.00 Fees: $4.70 Profit: $25.30

This was a board game from the large lot of board games I bought off a guy on Kijiji. I actually bought two lots off him, and this was the 2nd last game to sell from the second lot. Not a bad sale, and nice to get such a large box out of storage.

Friday, February 3, 2017

Commissioned Sale: DC Archive Editions LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES

Sale Price: $44.99 Fees:$8.00 Profit: $36.99
My 50% cut of the Profit: 18.50

This is another trade paperback that Chris asked me to sell for him when he moved. A nice price for this book, and a nice sale first thing in the morning of my birthday.

Wednesday, February 1, 2017

Cirque Du Soleil Pin

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $14.99 Fees: $2.05 Profit: $12.94

This is a Cirque Du Soleil pin that was apparently from their show at Walt Disney World. I got it in the bag of pins Chris bought at VV a while ago, and that I made my investment back with the sale of another pin from this bag. With my recent commission of selling Disney pins I've realized there is a small profit to be made in pins, but I wouldn't buy them unless really valuable/rare or if I can get a lot of pins for a small investment. The problem with selling pins is that the cost of mailing them is often more expensive than the pin themselves.

January 2017 Recap

I sold 22 items.

I spent $98.32 on those items.
I sold those items for $787.87
I paid $95.86 in fees to eBay.
I made a profit of $593.69

I sold 7 things on consignment and made $56.05

From my Flipping Experiment with Chris:
We sold 9 items
We sold these items for $284.94
We paid $52.90 in fees to eBay.
We made a profit of $232.04 - meaning $116.02 each

My total profit this month was $656.53

This was one of my worst months in a long time, probably since last winter/spring. I had two weeks were I sold nothing. I know that January is typically slow with people not spending money after Christmas, but this was a hard month. I also spent the month listing a lot, and have almost 1,000 listings now. I am really hoping things pick up in February.
