Commissioned Sale: Two McDonald's Pin

Sale Price: $39.99 Fees:$9.29 Profit: $30.70
My 30% Commission: $9.21

Someone bought these two McDonald's pins.

Sony Walkman WM-8

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $100.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $94.36
Chris's 10% Commission: $9.44

This was his big purchase and he was so excited to get it. It is a very early Sony Walkman, their 8th model. It is quite plain and simple, but it has a classic look and a nice shoulder strap. It was nice to see someone getting something I sold them and being excited to get it - I assume most of my buyers are happy to get their purchases but I don't typically get to see their reaction. This was a nice find by Chris, he did well on the commission.

Two Buttons

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $10.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $10.00

He bought these two buttons. I always like to sell buttons, such an easy $5.

Batman VHS Tape

Bought: $2.25 Sold: $5.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $2.75

This is the oldest item in my store - way back when I actually picked up VHS tapes. I don't know why I hadn't removed this from my store, but he was excited to get it, so I'm happy I kept it up.

20 Maxell UR90 Cassette Tapes

Bought: $3.15 Sold: $30.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $26.85

He bought 20 sealed blank cassette tapes from me. These 16 I picked up in a hanging baggie at VV, and the other four came from one of the storage lockers.

Two Vintage Comics

Sold: $5.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $5.00

So I met up with the guy who bought the random lot of items last weekend - buttons, postcards and comics. He messaged me about buying a number of other things and asked me to hold them until today since he got his pension cheque today. He bought $180 of things off me today, and since we did the sale outside of eBay there were no fees. I've actually sold to him before, a few years ago. He has Asperger's and doesn't get or enjoy much of modern entertainment and enjoys vintage items - which I sell many of. I threw in a couple extra cheap comics that I had of the variety he liked and a couple older VHS tapes I had in for free for him. He's a nice guy, and hopefully he'll be back. He already mentioned another comic that he asked me to save for him for his next cheque. These two comics came from the Kemptville auction.

Storage Locker #2

August 31st - Computer Monitor
Sold for: $50.00 Fees: $0.00

This was probably one of the nicest things in the unit - an HP computer monitor. It would have been expensive in it's day, but it's a bit dated now and only 20". That being said, still a really nice montior and managed to get $50 for it on Kijiji.

The Numbers:
Initial Cost: $412.91
Number of items sold in August: 11
Number of items sold overall: 26
Gross Profit for August: $427.96
Fees to eBay: $24.18
Net Profit for August: $403.78
Net Overall Profit: $184.31

August 6th - Ford F-150 Floor Mats
Sold for: $60.00 Fees: $0.00

For some reason the storage locker had this sealed new in bag OEM Ford F-150 floor mats. They fit an 2005 to 2008. I sold them locally on Kijiji to someone with a 2008 model.

August 12th - PlayStation 2 Ratchet and & Clank Going Commando
Sold for: $9.99 Fees: $1.55

Yet another PS2 game sold.

August 15th - Baseball glove
Sold for: $20.00 Fees: $0.00

I sold another of the baseball gloves today. This is the third glove, out of four, that I've sold from this unit. Only one to go!

August 19th - Conker Live & Reloaded

Sold for: $29.99 Fees: $4.57

This was the only Xbox game in the storage unit, but thankfully it was one that sells well.

August 19th - 6 Broken Apple iPods
Sold for: $43.00 Fees: $3.82

There were six Apple iPods in the storage locker, and none of them worked properly. They were all broken in some way. I decided to just list them all together as an auction and it sold for $43. Likely going to someone who will either fix them and resell them or use them for parts to fix others. I have no desire to fix these, and I'll gladly take the $43!

August 20th - 24 Pounds of Buttons
Sold for: $60.00 Fees: $10.00

For some reason there was a lot of buttons in this storage locker, she clearly collected them. In total there was 24 pounds of buttons. I sold them locally on Facebook to a woman who makes art with buttons. Her husband works in the same building as my sister, so I paid her $10 to make the trade for me.

August 21st - Two PS2 Guitar Hero Guitars
Sold for: $15.00 Fees: $0.00

These two guitars were in the unit. They are for the PS2 and so rather dated now and the Guitar Hero fad has long passed. I had no desire to try and ship these on eBay, so just sold them locally on Facebook. With this sale I am under $2 from breaking even on this locker.

August 23rd - 250 DVDs
Sold for: $50.00 Fees: $0.00

There was a lot of DVDs in the locker, over 250 of them. Over half had no case and was just loose. I listed them all together as one lot and sold it locally on LetGo. A lot easier than trying to sell them for a few dollars each on eBay.

August 26th - Playstation 2 Bully
Sold for: $9.99 Fees: $1.55

Another PS2 game sold.

August 27th - Spider-Man Comics
Sold for: $19.99 Fees: $2.69

These were the only comics in the unit, and they are a series of Canadian PSA (Public Service Announcement) comics geared towards teaching children not to do various things. Each one is set in a Canadian city and focus on Canadian themes: the Calgary Stampede, the Montreal Expos, the Edmonton Oilers. They were not in great condition, but still somewhat desirable to someone.

August 28th - Wooden Desk
Sold for: $60.00 Fees: $0.00

Finally managed to get the garage clear enough to get this desk out and posted. It sold within 24 hours! Not bad. I hope that the other desk sells quickly too, as it is taken up a lot of space.

Vintage Zippo Lighter

Sold: $40.00 Fees: $5.72 Profit: $34.28

This is a vintage Zippo lighter. It said "patented 1950" on it, which I'm sure doesn't mean it was made in 1950, but suggests it is older. This came from the random garage lots at the Kemptville auction. I had no idea this was in there until I got it home. There were a few lighters at the bottom of a box in the garage. It's a bit funny since I actually won a separate lot that was a number of cigarette tins and zippo lighters, so I guess they missed this one.

Two Sets of Vintage Darts

Sold: $19.99 Fees: $2.98 Profit: $17.01

Two sets of vintage darts. These came from the auction just down the road from my in-laws.

Flipping Experiment #2: Storage Locker - Month #5

August 31st - Ironman Cassette Tape Player

Sold for: $25.00 Fees: $0.00

This storage locker had a number of cassette players. This one is a bit interesting, released by Ironman and was meant to be used while working out. Sold this to the guy locally, along with a much more high end one.

August 31 - 4 Blank Cassette Tapes

Sold for: $5.00 Fees: $0.00

Sold these locally to the guy who bought the other 16 blank tapes.

This game was in the locker, although no other Sega items or console was.

August 10th - Dr. Dre The Chronic Cassette Tape
Sold for: $49.99 Fees: $6.41

I cannot believe that someone would pay $50 for a cassette tape... but someone did!

August 24th - Sony Walkman
Sold for: $19.99 Fees: $2.23

This is one of the many walkmans in the unit. Nothing particularly special about this one, but it's still $20.

August 26th - James Bond PS1 Game
Sold for: $4.99 Fees: $1.04

This was the only Playstation 1 game in the unit, which is odd. It sold though, so I'll take it.

Another CD sold.

DuckTales Rubber Stamp Set

Bought: $3.38 Sold: $39.99 Fees: $5.49 Profit: $31.12
Chris's 10% Commission: $3.11

This is an awesome rubber stamp set from 1987 featuring the cast of the DuckTales. I knew that I would sit on this for a while, and I think it took 2 years to sell, but I knew there was a fan out there somewhere who would want this.

Nelson De La Nuez Limited Edition Shirt

Bought: $14.68 Sold: $20.00 Fees: $3.30 Profit: $2.02

This is one of the shirts from when I bought some clothing to test it out, which was not for me. I had this a lot higher, but when I got the offer I jumped on it just to get rid of the shirt and make back my investment. It's a really cool shirt, with pop art on the collar and inside the buttons. It was limited to only 200 of these, but I guess it's not that desirable. It sold to someone in Portland, Oregon, so some hipster will wear it.

Lot of X-Men 2099 Comics

Sold: $14.99 Fees: $3.01 Profit: $11.98

This is a lot of 13 issues from the series X-Men 2099, which is a series set in the future starring a future cast of the X-Men. This sale brings the lot these were from into the positive, making my new total of profitable lots to 18 out of 32.

Current profit off the comic auction: $528.34

Disney Jasmine's Wish Enchanted Tales Bracelet

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $4.99 Fees: $0.83 Profit: $4.16

This is a Disney bracelet that was given away free with the purchase of a DVD of Jasmine's Enchanted Tales. I got a number of these in a bag of random things at VV. This is the second one I've sold now.

Batman Gotham Nights #1-4

Sold: $9.99 Fees: $1.55 Profit: $8.44

This is a Batman mini-series from 1992 featuring stories of how the regular citizens of Gotham are affected by having Batman living in their city.

Current profit off the comic auction: $516.36

Vintage Walt Disney World Postcard

Bought: $4.26 Sold: $4.99 Fees: $0.73 Profit: $0.00

I picked up two big bags of vintage postcards at Talize thrift in Kingston a few months ago for $10. There were a number of vintage Walt Disney World postcards in the two bags, which is the main reason I bought them. This is the first to sell and pays for almost half the purchase.

Eight Magazines

Sold: $84.99 Fees: $10.34 Profit: $74.65

The same buyer who bought a number of magazines last week was happy with his order and came back and bought eight more magazines. These are all from the video game lot from the auction last week.

Aliens Rogue #1-4

Commissioned Sale: McDonald's Pin

Sale Price: $14.99 Fees:$2.98 Profit: $12.01
My 30% Commission: $3.60

One of the cooler McDonald's pins in my opinion.
