Vintage Lawn Darts

Bought: $3.38 Sold: $100.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $96.62

This was two sets of vintage Javelin lawn darts. The toy from the 80's that was recalled due to being dangerous to children. I acquired one set, the one on the left, from my grandfather when he moved houses and just recently my parents were cleaning out my old closet at their place and made me take it with me. The other set I actually bought at VV for $3, and it was unused. The problem with these toys is that despite being quite desirable, they are recalled and so they cannot be sold on eBay. People sell the boxes alone on eBay, and they go for a lot. I think they may just advertise as just selling the box, but then actually mail the darts with it. I don't know, but I didn't want to mess around with that. I found an ad from someone on Kijiji who was looking to buy them, and so I messaged him and asked $50 for each, and was eager to buy them. He claimed that he just enjoys the game and they are hard to find. Anyways, not a bad profit for a small investment, and considering these are quite hard to sell, I'll take it.

Hard Nova PC Game

Bought: $2.25 Sold: $24.99 Fees: $3.29 Profit: $19.45

This is a computer game from 1990 that ran off floppy discs. I didn't actually intend to buy this game. It was on the board game shelf, and I picked it up along with a bunch of others to look up and see if worth buying, but it was so small it fell to the bottom of my cart and I forgot to look it up, and ended up buying it. Not something I would normally have bough, the profit margin is not that great and it has sat for a long time. I finally had a buyer from the UK ask if I would ship there, and he bought it. The only issue with that is there there is no tracking, and it has longer to travel, so fingers crossed it arrives safely.

Lot of 2 View Master 3D Walt Disney's Cinderella & Snow White

Bought: $6.31 Sold: $34.99 Fees: $4.20 Profit: $24.48
Chris' 5% Commission: $1.22

This was two packs of still sealed View-Master reels featuring Cinderella and Snow White. Chris picked these up at VV along with a few others, and in total the all cost $6, so when the others sell it will be pure profit. View-Master reels seem to take a while to sell, but I've done with them, especially ones that are still in the packaging.

Disney Princess Dough Set

Bought: $6.31 Sold: $19.99 Fees: $3.36 Profit: $10.32

I can't believe this sold. I don't know why I bought this. It's a Disney Princess Play-Doh Knock Off. Who is buying non-Play-Doh dough? Like really? Why was I willing to pay $6 for this? I bought this over two years ago when I first started, and it was a stupid decision. I get that it sold, but still, really? I'm glad to see it go, but this still baffles me.

Parker Historical Jig-Map of Canada

Bought: $2.25 Sold: $44.99 Fees: $5.65 Profit: $37.09

I picked up this awesome vintage puzzle of Canada from 1966. I built it to make sure it was complete, which it was. I know I've said I won't buy puzzles again, and I probably won't, but this one was too cool to pass up, and it sold!

Lego 6044 Boxed Set

Bought: $7.90 Sold: $74.99 Fees: $8.56 Profit: $55.60
Chris' 5% Commission: $2.93

This was a new in box lego set that Chris found at VV. It had never been opened, but the box had been crushed. It sold within 2 days, and is off to a mail forwarder to a buyer in Korea. Always a bit of concern with mail forwarders, but I'm going to hope for the best. Lego always sells well, nothing new there. Older sealed sets will sell quickly, and this was no exception.

May 2017 Recap

I sold 13 items.
I spent $91.68 on those items.
I sold those items for $488.95
I paid $56.56 in fees to eBay.
I made a profit of $340.71

I sold 11 things on consignment and made $55.91

From my Flipping Experiment with Chris:
We sold 11 items
We sold these items for $590.95
We paid $93.48 in fees to eBay.
We made a profit of $497.47 - meaning $248.73 each

My total profit this month was $645.35

This month was not great. Very slow in sales, and not a huge profit. This is probably caused by the time of year, and people are buying less online, but also that I was away all month and wasn't able to post new items, and there is a belief that the more new items you post regularly, the better views all your items get. I'm hoping to get out sourcing more in June now that garage sale season is here, and start posting more regularly again, and hopefully I'll see a better June than May.
