Last Saturday Chris and I spent the day sorting all the comics from the locker. We went through them, decided which ones were worth listing on their own and creating lots for the rest. We then photographed them all, and then packaged them all up. It took us about 10 hours, and was a ton of work, but they are all done and can just sell now. I haven't managed to get all the listings up yet - it takes time - but I have posted around 20 or so of the comics/lots and this was the first to sell. Anytime a comic sells for over $1 is a good comic, and so $10 is great. This is a special edition holofoil cover. These were quite the rage in the 90s and variant covers became so popular and prevalent that there was a comic bubble and it burst in the mid-90s and many comics that people were buying purely for speculation were worth nothing. It turned out that almost no one was buying them to keep, but almost everyone was buying them hoping they could sell them for a large profit in 10 years. The collector of these comics that we got in this lot was clearly a speculator who was buying in the mid to late 90s. So many of his comics still had price stickers on them and we paid 4 to 5 times what the comics are worth now. A lot are worth maybe $1 or $2. Some kept some value, like this one, but he likely spend $20 or $25 on this when he bought it. Chris and I will make some good profit on these comics once they sell, but no where near what the original owner paid for them.
The Numbers:
Initial Cost: $2,000
Number of items sold in November: 6
Number of items sold overall: 33
Gross Profit for November: $255.17
Fees to eBay: $38.80
Net Profit for November: $216.37
Net Overall Profit: $50.21
Chris and I have recouped our initial investment, and each made a profit of $25.10
November 7 - Epoch Vampire Savior Morrigan
Sold for: $222.22 Fees: $31.93
Finally we sold one of the bigger statues with a good price. This one has some serious water damage to the box but the figure was in good shape and had never been displayed. Also, with this sale we have finally recouped our full initial investment and have started to make a profit on the lot. With still 50 statue and figures to sell, and all the comics and posters, I am still confident this lot will end up bringing in a good profit.
November 18 - Four Comics
Sold for: $22.96 Fees: $4.46
A guy messaged me asking if I could combine shipping if he bought a number of comics from me, and I said of course. He bought four comics and I made a new listing with all four as opposed to having him buy the four separate since we saved on fees (1 final sale fee versus 4). Most of these comics were a few dollars, but one was $15 so that helped with the sale. We have so many comics from this lot and most of them are low dollar amounts, so any time we can get rid of more than one at once I am happy.
