Flipping Experiment #1: Comic and Anime statues, comics and posters - Month #9

January 24 - Replicant Magazine
Sold for: $19.99 Fees: $4.75

This is a magazine of garage models - it is just a catalog. A catalog from a decade ago. I have no idea why someone would want to buy this, but it sold so I'm not complaining.

The Numbers:
Initial Cost: $2,000
Number of items sold in January: 9
Number of items sold overall: 52
Gross Profit for January: $284.94
Fees to eBay: $52.90
Net Profit for January: $232.04
Net Overall Profit: $548.30

Chris and I have recouped our initial investment, and each made a profit of $274.15

January 1st - Burst Angel Jo Figure
Sold for: $74.99 Fees: $11.61

The first sale of 2017 and it happened literally at 12:01 on January 1st!
Another action figure from the storage locker, and always happy to see numbers over $50 for these things. I would love to be able to move a lot of these in 2017. Here's hoping!

January 2nd - Hulk Trade Paperback

Sold for: $9.99 Fees: $2.76

This is a trade paperback of the Hulk. Not a huge sale, but any money we can get out of this lot is good.

January 3rd - 9 Witchblade Comics
Sold for: $30.00 Fees: $5.79

Another lot of comics sold, this one featuring the character Witchblade. I'm so glad we lotted these up and didn't try to sell them individually. We may make a bit less money this way, but they move a lot faster, people save on shipping, and we get them out of storage to make room for more things!

January 15th - Two Ascension Comics
Sold for: $4.99 Fees: $1.61

January 16th - Hajime Sorayama World Cutey Honey
Sold for: $60.00 Fees: $9.96

This was one of the models we got, but I didn't list it until a few weeks ago. We had a handful of figures that were not statues, but rather build your own models. Also, they had no names or brands and instead just had a photograph. It turns out these are called Garage Models and someone builds the mold and makes them and they are usually sold in limited quantities and often for a high price (since limited and unique). I was able to determine this one thanks to some few English phrases on the otherwise Japanese instructions. Not bad for something I almost threw out

January 20th  - Ghost in the Shell Poster
Sold for: $59.99 Fees: $9.55

This is one of the 69 posters that we got in the lot. Chris and I sat on these for quite some time before listing them. We finally bite the bullet last weekend and spent a Saturday trying to photograph and package as many as we could. We got through 40 of them, though it was quite an ordeal that ended with broken glass, Chris cutting himself, and lots of frustration with trying to figure out how to best photograph posters that have been rolled up for over 20 years and do not want to lay flat. That being said, we got 40 done, and I slowly listed them this week and the first one sold! For a very nice price too. Most of the posters are listed between $40 and $75, so it should be a very nice bonus to this investment once they sell. A number of them already have interest. I'm hoping we can spend another night and get the remaining ones photographed and listed, and then we will have everything from this lot listed and available to be sold.

January 21st - WWE Lita Poster
Sold for: $15.00 Fees: $3.96

Another poster sold, this one of a WWE Diva Lita. I wasn't sure this one would sell, but it sold within 24 hours but took the buyer over a week to sell. Not a huge sale, but some more money from this lot.

January 24th - Star Trek Guide
Sold for: $9.99 Fees: $2.91

Among the comics, and statues and posters were a few random books. This was one of them. I was going to throw it out, but figured I might as well list it and see if it eventually sells. We didn't make a whole ton on it ($3.50 each) but that's $3.50 more than if we didn't sell it. I really want to get the most I can out of this lot, and it continues to deliver. The fact that we recovered our initial $2,000 investment with less than 50 sales is great, and now all sales are just more money in our pocket. With over half of the posters listed, we only need one more day of taking photos and packaging the other half and finally everything will be listed.
