Playmobil 4070 Playground

Bought: $33.89 Sold: $60.00 Fees: $9.20 Profit: $16.91

This is a very large Playmobil set that I picked up over a year ago. Quite frankly, I paid too much for it. I was to get $100 for it, but the market wasn't there, and it's quite a large box and so shipping was very expensive. I finally lowered it to $80 and still nothing, until today I had an offer of $60 and I took it. I'm glad it finally sold, and this giant box is out of storage and I at least made a small profit. The nice thing on this is that today wast the last day of CanadaPost's free shipping Tuesdays in October, so I shipped it for free and got to pocket what they paid for shipping which was almost $30, so overall I netted about $45 profit on this sale which is much better than just $16.

Vintage Avon Brush Comb Set

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $29.99 Fees: $4.27 Profit: $21.21

This is a vintage Avon Brush & Comb Set. It was new in box, and I figured that Avon had followers and maybe someone would want it. Not a huge ROI, but $20 is still $20.

Commissioned Sale: Disney Pin

My 30% cut of the Profit: $2.27

This is a Disney pin from their cruise ship displaying the cruise route. It was bought by someone living in residence at a college - I wonder what they want with it.

Another pin sold. I have no idea what "Spark" is, but I listed it as a pride pin which seemed to work.

Marvel X-Men X-Tinction Agenda Poster

Sale Price: $40.00 Fees:$7.84 Profit: $32.16
My 70% cut of the Profit: $22.51
Chris's 30% cut of the Profit: $9.65

This summer Chris was in Cornwall for the weekend visiting friends and he went to this garage sale and found that the owner used to run a used book store and had 100's of comic book posters from the 1980's and 1990's that had never been hung. These posters, however, were all promotional posters, and were shipped to stores folded (not rolled). He didn't have much cash on him, so he bought what he could. He offered to pay for them and take 30% of the profits. I was quite impressed with the posters and Chris said he had 100's more, so a few weeks later on the way back from Montreal from my bachelor weekend we stopped in to see if I could buy the rest as one lot. I was prepared to start my offer of $500. He wasn't home, but a friend's parents who knew him inquired later in the week and apparently he had just sold them all for $200. That hurt... oh well, lesson learned. When you see a good deal, jump on it! Or someone else will.

Commissioned Sale: Disney Pin

Sale Price: $4.49 Fees:$1.59 Profit: $2.90
My 30% cut of the Profit: $0.87

Yet another Disney pin sold.

Lot of 10 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics Pins

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $74.99 Fees: $8.88 Profit: $66.11

This is my best pin sale to date! A bag I bought recently had a number of Lake Placid Olympic pins in it, including a number of pins with that Olympic's mascot, Roni the Raccoon, doing various sports. I decided to lot them all together and put up a high price of $75, and someone bought them! They are being mailed to a mail forwarder that ships mail to Korea, so someone in Korea bought these. No idea why, but this is a great sale.

That being said, I am off to Toronto tonight for a conference and I'm not back until Sunday, so I'm leaving the mailing of packages to my falls to my wife. She has graciously  offered to help for a low commission of 25%.... So by mailing this package she'll earned $16.53...

Q*Bert Quazy Questions Riddle Joke Book

Bought: $0.50 Sold: $25.00 Fees: $3.24 Profit: $16.26
Chris' 10% Commission: $1.62

This is a fun little vintage book. It is a riddle book featuring Q*Bert, a character from a classic arcade game. Chris found it at VV for 50 cents, and while it sat for a while, it finally sold. Not a huge profit, but also not a huge investment.

8 Horror Comics

Sale Price: $44.99 Fees:5.82 Profit: $39.17

These were 8 comics from the comic auction. They all feature either Jason from Friday the 13th or Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm Street. I listed these comics as one of the first ones because I was hoping that with Halloween so close it would be on people's minds, and it seemed to have worked! Someone messaged me about combining shipping on these 8 comics. At just over $5 a comic, this is a great sale.

Current profit off the comic auction: -$.4,023.08

11 Creepy Comics

Sale Price: $154.89 Fees:28.41 Profit: $126.48

The same buyer who bought 10 issues of Eerie the day I posted them bought 11 issues of Creepy today after I listed a number of them. Creepy and Eerie were both published by the same company, Warren Magazine, and are both anthologies titles of horror stories so it makes sense someone would collect both. It is nice to sell 11 comics on the same day I post them, and all to the same person.

Current profit off the comic auction: -$.4,062.25

Playmobil 5236 Dinosaur Transport

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $25.00 Fees: $4.40 Profit: $14.96

I picked this up at VV over a year ago, and while it was nearly complete it was missing the most important piece: the dinosaur! Thankfully someone still bought it, and while not a huge profit, I'm happy it finally sold especially considering it has no dinosaur.

Commissioned Sale: Two Disney Pins

This is a pair of pins from Disneyland Tokyo featuring Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

Commissioned Sale: Disney Pin

Flipping Experiment #1: Comic and Anime statues, comics and posters - Month #18

October 24th - 2 Art books and lots of comics

Sold for: $119.99 Fees: $16.19

So for a third day in a row this buyer messaged asking if he could buy a number of items and get a bit of a discount, this time for lots of comics and two art books that have been sitting for 18 months. I gave him $30 off and he bought them all. This guy has now paid us over $500 in 3 days. I like repeat customers!

The Numbers:
Initial Cost: $2,000
Number of items sold in October: 17
Number of items sold overall: 134
Gross Profit for October: $629.93
Fees to eBay: $97.92
Net Profit for October: $532.01
Net Overall Profit: $4116.58

Chris and I have recouped our initial investment, and each made a profit of $2,058.29

October 3rd - Battle Chasers TPB

Sold for: $24.99 Fees: $4.19

This is one of the trade paperbacks. It is a series I've never heard of. That being said, $25 for a trade is a good price, I'll take it.

October 11th - Shi Poster
Sold for: $49.99 Fees: $9.47

This was one of the largest posters we had - over 6 feet tall. It is of Shi - a character in an independent comic. While she has a fan base it is not particularly large, so I did not expect this to be a fast sale. I'm glad it finally sold, and got a good price for it.

October 12 - Vampirella Poster
Sold for: $34.99 Fees: $7.02

Another poster sale! Two in two days! This one is of Vampirella.

October 22nd - Four Issues of Tarot Witch of the Black Rose
Sold for: $99.99 Fees: $16.95

Someone bought these two auctions, each was for one issue of Tarot Witch with two different covers (the normal cover and the NSFW cover). He paid $50 per lot, which is a great price. Glad to see us making good money off these comics, even if it did take 18 months to make that month, it was well worth sitting and waiting for.

October 23rd - Six Posters

Sold for: $99.99 Fees: $15.43

The buyer who bought the four comics yesterday messaged and asked if he bought these 6 posters and a statue if I would cut him a break on the price. The 6 posters and the statue were listed for a total of $420, so I offered it to him for $300 ($100 for the posters and $200 for the statue). All 7 items were from this lot, and I've so long ago made my profit that I was just glad to sell 7 things and the prices I put for all these were largely just guesses, so $300 is still a great price!

October 23rd - Witchblade Statue
Sold for: $199.99 Fees: $28.67

This is the statue he bought. So he's paid me $400 in the last two days! With this sale Chris and I have both now officially doubled our return on our initial investment - we both originally paid $1000, and we have both made back that initially investment and made $2,000 each since then! That means that we have sold over $6,000 worth of stuff from this lot in just 18 months, and there is still lots to sell! I think this purchase can officially be deemed a success.

Lego Friends Set

Bought: $5.00 Sold: $39.99 Fees: $6.10 Profit: $28.89

I found this at a garage sale for $5 and considering it was still sealed new in box, it was an easy buy. It's from the Lego Friends series, which is the line geared towards girls, so it doesn't sell as well, but it's Lego so it will sell eventually. $5 into $40 isn't bad.
