I Saw Santa Claus Santa's Workshop North Pole NY Button

Bought: $3.38 Sold: $14.99 Fees: $1.86 Profit: $9.75

This vintage metal button/pin was in a bag of pins and I was shocked to see what people were asking for it. This sale paid for a whole bag of pins that I haven't listed yet.

Creepy Comic

Hitachi AD-091 Electronic Head Demagnetizer

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $29.99 Fees: $3.99 Profit: $21.49

I picked this up as it looked new in package, but it was actually opened and used and the previous owner just stored it in the container. I have no idea if this works - or even how to test if it works - so we will see if the buyer complains. I cannot get over how drab this packaging is, I cannot imagine a worse way to try and sell a product.

Commissioned Sale: Disney Pin

Sale Price: $9.99 Fees:$2.32 Profit: $7.67
My 30% cut of the Profit: $2.30

This is a Disney pin for Epcot Center featuring Figment the dragon.

Commissioned Sale: Two McDonald's Disney Pins

Sale Price: $24.00 Fees:$5.24 Profit: $18.76
My 30% cut of the Profit: $5.54

Sold these two McDonald's Disney pins, one of the Lion King and one of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

3 Vintage Star Trek Buttons

Bought: $4.73 Sold: $14.99 Fees: $1.86 Profit: $8.40

I picked up a bag at VV with these three Star Trek buttons and two Star Trek pins for $4. I was sure I could make a profit on them, and with this sale of the three buttons I already have. I'm hopeful the two pins will sell as well and it'll turn into a nice profit.

Avalon Hill Tactics II Board Game

Bought: $6.78 Sold: $39.99 Fees: $5.37 Profit: $27.84

This is an Avalon Hill war game that while the box was heavily used was unpunched. I can't ever not pick up an Avalon Hill game when I see one, and this one not only sold quickly but also had a pretty good ROI.

Mr. Christmas Mickey's Clock Shop Ornament

Bought: $8.04 Sold: $49.99 Fees: $6.72 Profit: $32.53

This is a Disney ornament that has five shops linked together and it sings carols and characters come out of each house. I picked this up in Moncton in the spring and brought it back to Ottawa where I waited until Christmas season to list it. It had a pretty good ROI and a quick sale (under a week). Disney and Christmas stuff, can't go wrong.

Commissioned Sale: 4 Trade paperbacks of The Boys

Sale Price: $30.00 Fees:$6.65 Profit: $23.35
My 50% cut of the Profit: $11.67

These are the first four trades of the comic The Boys, which was recently made into a TV show. Chris picked these up at at some point and were part of the books he asked me to list for him when he moved. These have sat for a while, so I'm glad they finally sold.

Commissioned Sale: McDonald's Pin

Sale Price: $4.49 Fees:$1.85 Profit: $2.64
My 30% cut of the Profit: $0.79

This is a pin from the McDonald's inside a Walt Disney World Resort.

Commissioned Sale: McDonald's Pin

Sale Price: $9.99 Fees:$2.32 Profit: $7.67
My 30% cut of the Profit: $2.30

This is an interesting pin - the Hamburglar and Ronald pumping iron. I have no idea why this pin was made, but it's off to a new home.

Balderdash Refill Sheets

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $14.99 Fees: $2.69 Profit: $12.30
Chris' 10% Commission: $1.23

This is a pack of refill sheets for the board game Balderdash. Chris bought this when he was playing this game a lot with friends, but never ended up using it and so gave it to me to sell. The problem is that while these refill sheets are hard to come by, the game isn't very expensive and so you can only charge so much for these since it was more expensive than the game itself people could just buy a second copy of the game to get more sheets.

Lake Placid Olympic Pin

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $7.49 Fees: $1.08 Profit: $6.41

Another one of the Lake Placid Olympic pins sold - one of the many I picked up in a bag of pins recently.

Air Hogs Power Pack

Bought: $3.38 Sold: $24.99 Fees: $3.37 Profit: $18.24
Chris' 10% Commission: $1.82

This is a new in package battery and charger for RC model airplanes. These typically sell well, and while not a huge profit, a good ROI.

Play-Doh Spaghetti Playshop

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $49.99 Fees: $6.92 Profit: $43.07

The same buyer who bought the conveyor belt also bought this set. I picked this set up in a bag of Play-Doh sets, and so it has long been paid for. I've had this set for over two years, and it finally sold. I was asking a lot for it, but I'm glad someone finally thought it was a fair price.

Play-Doh Mega Fun Factory Conveyor Belt

Bought: $3.36 Sold: $24.99 Fees: $4.42 Profit: $17.21

It has been a while since one of these sold, but this was my last one. It wasn't complete, and so it didn't sell nearly as well as some in the past, but I'm glad to see it move and free up some space on my shelf.

Young Romance Comic

Bought: $0.84 Sold: $4.99 Fees: $1.04 Profit: $3.11

When I was in Pembroke a few months ago for work I stopped at the local VV and didn't find much, but I did find 10 old romance comics from both DC and Marvel. They were in horrible condition, but these romance comics are often hard to find (as they were not that popular) and so I figured I would take a risk, and due to VV's policy on books 2 of the comics were free so they ended up costing me 84 cents each. This was the first to sell. Just look at that cover...

This was another one of the posters, this one of an Anime series. We have almost sold out of all the posters - I'll be glad to see the day when the last one sells.

November 5th - Two Marvel X-Men Posters
Sold for: $74.99 Fees: $11.51

Someone messaged asking if they could combine shipping on these two posters, which I gladly did. These two posters combine with a middle one (that I previously sold) to form one large poster.

November 7th - Two X-Men Comic
Sold for: $16.00 Fees: $4.04

Two X-Men comics sold together. We had very Marvel comics in this lot sadly, but glad to see we got a good profit on the few ones we did have.

November 8th - Art of Chiodo
Sold for: $19.99 Fees: $3.20

This is a book of art done by comic artist Chiodo. At this point any time something from this lot sells I'm happy. This is the lot that just keeps on giving.

November 15th - Reflections of Myth The Larry Elmore Sketchbook
Sold for: $24.99 Fees: $5.19

This was another of the books of artist's work that was in the lot. This one is essentially just pictures of scantily clad women in fantasy settings.

Crokinole Board

Bought: $11.29 Sold: $74.99 Fees: $9.32 Profit: $54.38

This is a Crokinole board, which tend to sell well to the US since it is a Canadian game and is apparently quite difficult to find in the States. One issue, however, is that shipping such a large item to the US is expensive. This is the second Crokinole board I've sold, and this one had the original box and all the pieces. I'll pick these up when I see them if they are cheap enough and well made.

Commissioned Sale: Walt Disney World Bumper Sticker

Sale Price: $9.99 Fees:$3.49 Profit: $6.50
My 30% cut of the Profit: $1.95

This is a vintage bumper sticker from Walt Disney World. One of the Disney things I was selling for my assistant.

Three DC 100 Page Special Comics

Sale Price: $29.97 Fees: $3.61 Profit: $26.36

Someone bought these three comics at $10 each, which is not only a great price per comic, but also a nice sale! This sale of 3 comics paid for 1/2 of the lot they came from!

Current profit off the comic auction: -$3,825.22

Ready Set Spaghetti Game

Bought: $3.15 Sold: $34.99 Fees: $5.11 Profit: $6.73
Chris' 10% Commission: $2.67

This is a board game from the 1980's that I've sold a few times now. This one was missing the dice, which are not standard dice, so that effected the price, but everything else was there.

Two Spawn Batman Comics

Sale Price: $4.49 Fees: $0.98 Profit: $3.51

Someone, also from Quebec, bought these two comics featuring a cross-company meet-up between Batman and Spawn.

Current profit off the comic auction: -$3,851.58

Batman & Punisher Comics

Sale Price: $9.98 Fees: $2.08 Profit: $7.90

Someone from Quebec bought these two comics that feature a cross-company meet-up between Batman and the Punisher.

Current profit off the comic auction: -$3,855.09

Commissioned Sale: Disney Pin

Sale Price: $4.99 Fees:$1.66 Profit: $3.33
My 30% cut of the Profit: $1.00

This is a Disney pin promoting being environmental.

Winterlude Plastic Pin

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $4.99 Fees: $0.83 Profit: $4.16

I got a number of these Winterlude pins in a bag of pins, and I wasn't sure if anyone would buy them, but someone did. Not surprisingly, the buyer is from Ottawa. I'm hoping the others will sell once winter is here and Winterlude is actually on.

Canadian Forces Army Mobile Gun System Challenge Coin

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $9.99 Fees: $1.34 Profit: $8.65

This is a Canadian Forces challenge coin. I actually recently learned what a challenge coin was when I was given one by the commissioner of the RCMP. They are coins given out by police or military departments, units or offices as a token of gratuity or at events. They are collected by some people, but are really more of a novelty. Their original intention, and where the name challenge coin comes from, was that if you were drinking at a bar with other people who had the same challenge coin you could challenge people to present their coin and if someone couldn't they had to buy the next round, but if everyone could the round was on you. In essence, you are supposed to carry your challenge coin with you at all times. This came in a bag of pins, so it's been paid for a while now, and I realised what it was.

Playmobil 4414 Skate Park

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $14.99 Fees: $2.79 Profit: $12.20

This is a small Playmobil set that came in one of the large lots I bought sometime in the last couple years. I wouldn't have bought this on it's own, but since I already had it I might as well sell it. Not a huge profit, but for little work and no investment it isn't that bad.

Hawkman Trade Paperback

Sale Price: $9.99 Fees: $2.27 Profit: $7.72

This is a trade paperback collecting some early appearances of Hawkman. This is from a short box that I listed this week, so nice to see a sale already.

Current profit off the comic auction: -$3,862.99

Patagonia Sweater

Bought: $14.68 Sold: $39.99 Fees: $4.29 Profit: $21.02
Chris' 10% Commission: $2.10

Another one of the things I picked up when I was looking into clothes. I knew that Patagonia has a high resell value, and it's a nice looking sweater. It took over 2 years to sell, and had a decent ROI, but I'm still not dealing with clothes ever again.

Replogle Moon Globe

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $59.99 Fees: $7.44 Profit: $48.04

This is the second time I've found and sold one of these moon globes. This one was a bit older than the first one as this one had the site of the Apollo 11 landing site, as opposed to the first which just had the proposed site location. These globes are pretty popular and sell well and quickly. I'd love to find one in a better condition, the two I've fond so far have both been dented and rusted.

Tomy Atomic Arcade Pinball Machine

Bought: $3.86 Sold: $35.00 Fees: $5.16 Profit: $25.98
Chris'10% Commission: $2.60

This is a small toy arcade pin ball machine from the last 1970's. It still works, which is pretty impressive. This one had a lot of of wear, and it is really really heavy so shipping was expensive. Thankfully the buyer was in Toronto and so shipping was pretty reasonable in the end, and it sold within a few weeks.

Scrabble 2008 Signature Edition

Bought: $5.00 Sold: $99.99 Fees: $13.07 Profit: $81.92

This is a Barnes and Noble exclusive Scrabble board that has a tempered glass top with metal base and metal tile racks. I found it at a garage sale for $5 and knew it was worth grabbing. There weren't any on eBay, and it was an exclusive item from almost a decade ago, so I listed it high for a Scrabble game. It sat for about 5 months and finally sold for my asking price!

Swatch Watch

Bought: $11.29 Sold: $74.99 Fees: $7.11 Profit: $56.59
Chris' 10% Commission: $5.66

It's been a while since a Swatch watch sold, but considering I have about 20 of them listed (and another 20 I need to list) it is always nice when one sells. This one is pretty plain and basic, and was a bit pricey to buy but the ROI is well worth it.

TOMY AFX HO Scale Racing F-1 XS-105

Bought: $7.90 Sold: $199.99 Fees: $22.25 Profit: $169.84
Chris' 10% Commission: $16.98

This set was complete and worked and was in amazing condition. I couldn't find anything on this one at all, but considering it's condition I decided to start the auction high at $199. It picked up 4 watchers, but only one last minute bidder buying it at my asking. I'm still very happy with the price, this is a great ROI.

Aurora AFX Big Ryder Set

Bought: $7.90 Sold: $139.50 Fees: $16.21 Profit: $115.39
Chris' 10% Commission: $11.54

Between Chris and I, I've acquired five of these giant race track car sets over the last few weeks. I haven't seen these much, if at all, before but all of a sudden I've picked up five of them. Last weekend I went to list two of them and wasn't able to find much about either set online, so I decided to do an auction. This set was missing any cars or trucks and had no controllers, so it was just track pieces and 2 power supplies. I wasn't sure what it would go for, so I started the auction at $99. It eventually ended with 16 watchers, but only at just under $140. It's still a very good ROI, and I'm happy with it, but clearly it's a bit rare if so many watchers. If it had the vehicles and remotes I'm sure it would have gone for even more.

Heroscape Expansion Set Fortress of the Archkyrie

Bought: $7.90 Sold: $25.00 Fees: $4.08 Profit: $13.02
Chris' 10% Commission: $1.30

This is a Heroscape expansion, and while it normally sells much better than this, this one wasn't complete. I had it up much higher but then I picked up another copy of this expansion that wasn't almost complete, so I borrowed some pieces from this set to complete the other, so I lowered the price even more on this one. I've had this for a while, so I'm glad it finally sold and is gone.

Spooky Town Angel of Death Statue

Bought: $28.24 Sold: $49.99 Fees: $6.65 Profit: $15.10

This is one of the four Lemax Spooky Town new in box sets I picked up at VV. They were selling them at 50% of retail, but I was having a hard time finding them on eBay, so I took a chance. I did pretty well with the first two at auction, and I had the last two up as BIN. This one finally sold, for what was the original retail price. I didn't make much profit on this one, but I'm glad it sold and I wasn't forced to eat the cost of it. I'm hopeful the fourth one will sell soon and I'll be able to mark this risk as a win.
