This is a Canadian Forces challenge coin. I actually recently learned what a challenge coin was when I was given one by the commissioner of the RCMP. They are coins given out by police or military departments, units or offices as a token of gratuity or at events. They are collected by some people, but are really more of a novelty. Their original intention, and where the name challenge coin comes from, was that if you were drinking at a bar with other people who had the same challenge coin you could challenge people to present their coin and if someone couldn't they had to buy the next round, but if everyone could the round was on you. In essence, you are supposed to carry your challenge coin with you at all times. This came in a bag of pins, so it's been paid for a while now, and I realised what it was.
