March Recap

I sold 47 items.

I spent $378.49 on those items.
I sold those items for $1,853.65
I paid $204.92 in fees to eBay.

I made a profit of $1,268.96

Month 8 of selling on eBay - I can't believe it has been that long - and I set a new best profit! I made $25.69 more than my previous best month - January of this year. It would be great if I could consistently make over $1,200 a month! This was also my month with the most sales - almost sold 50 things, this is more than an item a day. This hobby is so much fun, doesn't take up too much time, and not only do I enjoy it, but it is providing some nice extra income. With it only being noon on April 1st and already two sales done, here is hoping to April being an even better month!

Why, it's yet another Avalon Hill game

Bought: $7.90 Sold: $65.80 Fees: $6.93 Profit: $50.97

This is my 2nd last Avalon Hill game, and the last one is one of the common ones that will sell for $20 at most. I am always on the look out for these, since they are almost always good sellers. This copy was missing the instructions (thankfully easy to print off the internet), and had over 1,000 tokens which I counted and was off by 2 so I listed it as missing 2. It probably was complete, but I didn't feel like counting that many tokens a second time, and I was confident it would still sell - and it did!
Random Side Tangent: One of the best parts of selling is waking up each morning and checking to see if anything sold overnight. For some reasons most of my sales happen overnight, and so more times than not I wake up to a notification from eBay - either a sale or an offer. It is a great way to start the day. Tonight I had just finished a run and took my phone to turn off my podcast when I saw that I had this sale. Ending a run with an eBay sale may actually be better than waking up to one. It is great knowing that while I am out trying to be active, I can still make money. Though, waking up and knowing I made money while I slept has its benefits too. Both ways are nice, considering my day job is being paid for my intellectual property - so being paid when I'm not thinking is a new, and nice, feeling.

Nostalgia in pieces

Bought: $2.25 Sold: $13.15 Fees: $2.87 Profit: $8.03

I picked this up at VV a couple months ago. It was too cool, and brought too much nostalgia to not grab. That being said, demand for a 100 piece TMNT puzzle is apparently not great. Still, I had hopes, and it finally sold. Not a huge profit, but I'm glad to see such an awesome puzzle going to someone who truly wants it.

Play-Doh and Cars - what more do you need?

Bought: $2.25 Sold: $52.75 Fees: $5.63 Profit: $44.87

Yet another Play-Doh play set. Play-Doh is fast coming one my best selling items. I never realized how serious people collect these things. This was a used, but complete set, which always seems to sell a lot faster than individual parts. It always amazes me how not only how often I find Play-Doh at VV, but how often I find them in their original box. How many people give enough care to keep the box, store it in it, and then donate it that way when done with it? It amazes me. That being said, this was found by Chris. I've sold one of these before, and he knew it was worth getting. The set he picked up was complete, except for the plastic base - which is kinda important. Luckily I had picked up a box a few weeks ago that was mostly incomplete, but that I kept in hopes of being able to complete a set one day. Good thing I did. With the base from that set, I had a complete set. It didn't sit long, and sold within two weeks.

An EPIC Star Wars sale

Bought: $5.00 Sold: $197.86 Fees: $18.47 Profit: $174.39

This is a board game. A Star Wars board game released in 2002, that for some reason draws huge demand. This is the Star Wars board game you have to keep your eye out for: Star Wars Epic Duels Game. It contains 31 miniature figures, and 378 cards, allowing you to create duels between almost anyone in the Star Wars universe. I can understand why it is desirable - the 31 little figures alone would be desirable, but I am not sure of why there is such low supply. I am guessing the game was either expensive when first sold, or terrible, so either way not largely bought.
I was on Kijiji last week and saw an ad for "board games $5" which is normally full of crap, but the first picture had a copy of Nightmare, which caught my eye since I've sold a fair number of them. The ad had none of the games listed, just two photos. I saw that in the first photo there were three games I could make a decent return on ($20-25 each), and figured I could turn $15 into an easy $60-75. I swiped to the second picture, and there was some common place party game (Tri-Bond I think), and on its side in a shadow was this game. I couldn't believe it. I immediately contacted the guy saying I wanted all four games - I could still sell the other three and didn't want to alert him to this one maybe being worth money if I just wanted the one. I guess no one else saw the ad, or bothered to look closely enough, but no one else contacted him about it and I picked it up the next day. I guess it pays to be diligent and careful.
While not my highest sale to date, it is pretty close. Helps bring March to a nice end.

Mad Magazine Card Game

Bought: $4.73 Sold: $39.56 Fees: $4.48 Profit: $30.35

This is a MAD Magazine Card Game. I have no idea how it works, but I do know that MAD magazine memorabilia is relatively collectible. Found this hanging in a bag at VV for $5, and sold it for almost $40. Not a bad flip. Thankfully it was complete, though there was some minor damage to the card holder. This would be an ideal thing to keep a look out for at a garage sale - small, easy to miss, and likely not going to be very expensive.

Perfume

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $49.99 Fees: $4.58 Profit: $45.41

Robin was given this as a gift, but she doesn't wear perfume, and so she gave it to me to sell. I wasn't sure how well it would sell, but it actually had a lot of watchers, and finally sold for $50. I really hope that I've packed this well enough, and that it doesn't break in shipping. This is not something I'd ever buy on my own, this will likely be my only sale of perfume ever.

Vintage Coasters and Ash trays

Bought: $8.42* Sold: $19.89 Fees: $3.05 Profit: $8.42

This is another consignment item from my mother's friend - it is a coaster/ash try set from Birks. Not a huge profit, but sold for about $20, and took 50% of the profit of $16.

Let's make some McDonald's with Play-Doh

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $59.70 Fees: $6.18 Profit: $47.73

This is a McDonald's Restaurant Play-Doh Play set. It was not complete, but it had the building, three of the molds and the big mac and fry box, so it was about 75% complete. It would have been amazing to find this complete, it would fetch close to $100. I had a low offers on this, but it finally sold for the full asking price. This was an easy buy - how could anything McDonald's related not sell - and Play-Doh related as well.

Avalon Hill and golf!

Bought: $11.29 Sold: $66.33 Fees: $6.98 Profit: $48.06

This is one of my few remaining Avalon Hill games. This one is their golf game. This is a perfect example of where research comes in very useful. This is the 2nd edition of the game released by Avalon Hill, in which they changed the golf course. This game is based on the actual Augusta golf course in 1982. The first edition had been a different course. All the sold listings for this game on eBay where for about $20-30, but they were all the first edition, I listed this as the 2nd edition, and made sure to specify that it was the 2nd edition with a different course, and asked a lot more. I could have been lazy and just listed it at the going rate without doing research and got half the price. I am eager to find more Avalon Hill games - hopefully at garage sales this spring.

YAHTZEE!

Bought: $6.77 Sold: $26.53 Fees: $3.79 Profit: $15.97

I would normally never touch a Yahtzee game - there just isn't enough money in them. That being said, it is always worth looking up "Collectors Edition" version of games. This version of the game was released in 1996 on the 40th anniversary. It comes in a nice box, and has very high end versions of the dice and contents. Not a huge profit, but anytime I can buy a game for $5 and sell for $25, it's a good sale.

Netflixs' Daredevil helping me sell stuff?

Bought: $3.94 Sold: $33.01 Fees: $3.99 Profit: $25.08

This is a Marvel Essential The Punisher Volume 1, which collects the first appearances of the character The Punisher. Considering that the newest season of Netflix's Daredevil stars the Punisher, it is likely that whomever bought this book had finished watching the series and wanted to read some Punisher from the beginning.

The Marvel Essentials are an interesting concept - and probably worth picking up if you can find them cheap enough. The idea was to print large runs of various key characters, starting with their first appearances, in black and white on cheap newsprint paper. The idea being that you could read a large amount of the character's appearances, in order, for cheap. These retail for about $30. These were, for a long time, the only way to read a lot of older issues of the comics. This is how I first read early Daredevil and Moon Knight comics. They are becoming less popular as Marvel focuses on other, more expensive and better looking, forms of publishing these older comics. That being said, Essentials are still a cheap way to read them, especially for someone new to the character. These can be quite valuable, more so if it is out of print, and more so if the material has not been collected elsewhere. This is where having a knowledge about comics comes in handy. That being said, for $4 I would likely pick up any Essential I see for sale, because if I couldn't sell it, I'd easily be able to add it to my collection.

Who wants to do lunch with Alf?

Bought: $6.76 Sold: $26.41 Fees: $3.39 Profit: $16.26

These are a pair of Alf TV trays from 1987. They are a bit banged up - dented and slightly rusted - and were clearly used. I have no idea why Alf still has a fan base, nor why TV trays still sell, but apparently they do.

Some Dark Knight with your morning Joe

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $19.79 Fees: $2.81 Profit: $11.34

This is an Batman mug from 1993 featuring classic panels from the comic. I picked up a Batman one and a Superman one, both relatively expensive for mugs, but how could these not sell. Glad this one finally sold - I wonder if the movie Batman vs Superman being released today had anything to do with this sale. Anyways, this mug is off to Chicago where it hopefully is enjoyed for the awesomeness that it is. I actually picked up two of these Batman mugs, but one had a small chip in the handle, so it found its way into my personal mug collection. What a shame... (*pst* don't tell Robin).

Yet another dongle

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $10.56 Fees: $2.04 Profit: $4.01

This is another video game wireless receiver dongle - this one for the Wii game Tony Hawk. Chris loves picking these up, and they seem to sell. The risk is always that they don't work, and will have to eat the cost of the item and shipping in a return. Also, the dongles are usually not overly cheap. $4 for a $4 profit is not amazing. That being said, it did sell, so as long as it is not returned it is still a profit.

Bugs Bunny as Leopold

Bought: $79.09 Sold: $146.85 Fees: $14.55 Profit: $53.21

This is a hand-painted limited edition, and numbered, statute depicting Bugs Bunny as Leopold along with Giovanni from the famous Looney Tunes sketch. This was sold by the Warner Brothers store in 1993 and was limited to 1,500 copies. It was in the display case at VV, and I knew it had to be collectible and valuable. While other similar ones had sold on eBay in the last 60 days, this exact one hadn't, so I wasn't sure of the exact price. I decided to take a gamble and try an auction... While I made a decent ROI, I am sure that if I had been patient, and listed it high with OBO I would have sold it for more. Just more proof that auctions are not my thing. Still $50 isn't bad, especially considering how much I paid upfront for it. I'd love to come across more of these at garage sales where I could get them for significantly cheaper.

Fisher Price GeoTrax Train Tracks

Bought: $19.76 Sold: $45.73 Fees: $6.13 Profit: $19.84

This is a lot of Fisher Price Geo Trax train track pieces. I picked up a large box of these pieces, along with about 40 trains, for $19 at VV. I listed the tracks and cars separately, and the lot of tracks finally sold (after I reduced the price a number of times). With this sale, I doubled my investment, so any profit I make off the cars will be pure profit. I may have to break the train car lot into smaller lots for it to sell, but we will see. Whenever I see a big box of train tracks at VV for $15 or $20 I usually buy it, as it is often worth more than that.

Selling stuff for Chris

Bought: $11.31* Sold: $25.95 Fees: $3.33 Profit: $11.31

Chris picked this hate up for a friend who collects Expo things, but he didn't want it, so Chris asked me to sell it on consignment for him at a 50/50 share (hence the cost and profit being the same). It sold to someone - get this - in Montreal. I am staying far away from hats, and am glad this one sold. I would not normally have bought this, but I didn't mind listing it for Chris - was low risk for me. I am not keen on consignment, but I have to make an exemption for Chris since he helps me out so much.

Another VHS Board Game

Bought: $6.78 Sold: $19.46 Fees: $3.05 Profit: $9.63

This is a Star Trek TNG VCR Board Game. These were popular in the 1990's, and so far the only one I've sold were the classic Nightmare game. This was a nice sale, as it has been sitting on my shelf for a number of months now. I had hoped that the fandom of Star Trek fans would outweigh the fact that it was an almost obsolete board game - I guess the lack of VCRs make these games harder and harder to sell. That being said, it has been sold and is off to Toronto.

I choose you, PIKACHU!

UPDATE: Bought: $4.51 Sold: $13.15 Fees: $2.05 Profit: $6.59

This was a piece that was in the Pokemon Monopoly box I bought that was incomplete and that I pieced out. This was the pewter Pikachu token - the only token that was in that box. This is the second lot I've sold from that box, and made a small profit. I still have the money from that game to sell, which will bring in a bit more money.

Some more Meccano

UPDATE: Bought: $45.00 Sold: $53.46 Fees: $8.56 Profit: $-0.10

This was another lot of Meccano that I listed from the box of random pieces of Meccano I bought when I first started. I sold this lot for $5, bringing my total from this box almost back to breaking even. This was the last lot that I had listed on eBay so far, so I need to get more listed. I still have a number of pieces to break into lots and list. This box should end up making me a good profit in the end.

Cranium Cariboo

Bought: $4.73 Sold: $51.91 Fees: $6.06 Profit: $41.12

This is a pre-schooler-aged board game made by Cranium called Cariboo. Chris was actually the one who turned me on to this game as a good flip, and he was right. Cranium has made a whole slew of games, but this one seems to be the only one worth buying to flip. Apparently a very good game for young kids, and is now out of print. Chris picked this one up at a VV, so point for him. I had a number of offers on this, and a number of complaints over shipping to the states (which was about $20 USD to the size and weight), but finally someone bought it at full price and it is off to New Jersey.

Thomas the Tank Engine Train Set

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $38.95 Fees: $4.57 Profit: $28.74

This is a lot of parts to a Thomas the Tank Engine play set. It is missing a lot of the pieces, but it has the turntable which appears to be the desired piece. Not a bad ROI, and it included a plastic pin that I can now use for storage, so that's a win.

Two Lego Sets Sold!

Bought: $7.66 Sold: $64.90 Fees: $8.02 Profit: $49.22

These are two LEGO games from the same series HEROICA. These games first have to be built using Lego, and then they can be played. There are a number in the series, and the can be combined to change the game. Both of these were complete - one had never been used - and so fetched a good price. Someone bought both, and is only going as far as Montreal, so shipping was pretty cheap. Glad to see both of these go, and the nice profit that comes with that.

Update on older post

Re-posting of original post with new edit below

March 18th update: I sold the "Batman: The Official Book of the Movie" book for $6.50.

Original Post:
I thought I would post something different today. Instead of showing you what I sold, I am going to tell you what I bought, and then I will update this post as, if, things sell and see if I made profit on today's purchases.

Today was the start of the Rockcliffe Park Book Fair, which runs all weekend. I was not expecting it to be as busy as it was, it was a zoo! I could barely move, let alone get to books. I had to wait to get in and once in I was feeling quite claustrophobic. People were buying bags and bags of books, with seemingly no real discretion. I made it as far as the board games and kids books before giving up and leaving.

I spent $34.50.

I bought:
1) Build the Titanic Paper model (NIB) - $3
2) Fun City Board Game by Parker - $2
3) Top Gear Board Game - $3
4) Star Wars Phonics Set - $3
5) The Secret World of Arrietty Blu-Ray - $2 [Sold with profit of $16.68]
6) Lord of the Rings Film Book - $2.50
7) Batman The Official Book of the Movie - $2.50 [Sold with profit of $2.10]
8) Bone The Complete Epic - $8
9) Shirley Temple reading Bambi Record Set - $1 [Incomplete. Did not sell]
10) Thunderbirds Annual 2001 - $2
11) Beano Book 1994 - $2
12) Dennis the Menace Annual 2003 - $2.50
13) Topper Book 1973 - $1

So far I've made: $18.78 with 2 sales.

Edit #1 (Nov 6): I got home and checked the items, and the Bambi Record set is missing one of the three records, and it is badly taped together. It is not going to be worth my time and I will likely never sell it. That is one item done, and $1 wasted. Also, the Bone Complete Epic, the most expensive book, has a coffee stain on the bottom of the book, though it did not seep onto the pages. I am hoping I can at least make my money back on it.

Edit #2 (Nov 9): Listed and packaged everything over the weekend. Now we sit and play the waiting game...

Edit #3 (Jan 26): The first sale from the bunch, and, of course, it was one of the non-book items. I sold the Blu-Ray, which I would have guessed would be the first to sell. So far after the sale of one item I have recovered half of what I spent. The rest will take a while to sell, books are not typically fast movers.

Edit #4 (March 18): The second sale, and a small profit. Five months and I've sold one book. This experiment into books is clearly a failure, but I just hope I sell enough of the rest to break even on this.

Dungeons & Dragons Lot Update - 3rd Book sold

Bought: $18.89 Sold: $54.45 Fees: $7.68 Profit: $27.88

Original Post (November 22nd, 2015)
I picked up nine Dungeons and Dragons books from VV for a total of almost $19. It is just easier for me to keep track of them as one post, so I will update this post as they sell. I won't see a profit until a few have sold, but that too will update with time.
All the books were from "Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd Edition" which is an older version of the game from the early 90s. They are currently on the 5th edition, so the books have some value but most people playing D&D today aren't that interested. This combined with the fact that a lot of the books are online as PDFs, means that these may sit for a while.

Update to Post (February 1st, 2016)
I sold the 2nd book from this lot today, and have made made back my investment and am now $4 ahead. Meaning that when the next 7 books sell, it will all be profit.

Update to Post (March 17, 2016)
I sold the 3rd book from this lot today, and started to make a decent profit on this lot. With still 6 books to sell, this lot will, eventually, turn a very nice profit. It has taken 5 months to sell three books, so I realize it will take time, but it just goes to show that you need to have the right item listed when the right buyer comes along.

Nov 22, 2015 - 1st sale of The Complete Wizard's Handbook for $6.65.
Feb 1, 2016 - 2nd sale of I, Tyrant for $21.09.
Mar 17, 2016 - 3rd sale of The Complete Druid's Handbook for $26.71

Three Little Pigs in Play-Doh

Bought: $3.38 Sold: $21.85 Fees: $2.85 Profit: $15.62

This is a small Play-Doh of the Three Little Pigs. It contains a mold to make the three pigs, two of the houses and a wolf stomper. If you put the pig in the house and place the wolf stomper on top, the wolf squishes the pig. This is one of the smallest Play-Doh sets I've come across, but still collectible. I found this one in a bag on the wall at VV for pretty cheap.

Filing Cabinet

Bought: $20.00* Sold: $40.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $20.00

This is another item I sold on consignment for my mom's friend. I couldn't believe how much interest this got on Kijiji. I should have asked more than $40. I guess that small filing cabinets are hard to come by. I had over 12 people message me about it. Still, it was a quick sale which I can't complain about.

Hot Wheels!

Bought: $6.77 Sold: $23.18 Fees: $3.86 Profit: $12.55

I often pick up Hot Wheels sets when I set them, as long as they are old enough, in the hopes that they are complete. More often than not they are not complete, making it near impossible to sell. Thankfully this one was complete, and sold. That being said, the sets are big and bulky, making shipping expensive, making it even harder to sell. I think I am going to move away from buying these unless I can find new in box ones. That being said, this one was was a decent ROI.

Batman Toy

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $12.49 Fees: $2.13 Profit: $5.85

This is a foldable Batman play set. Chris picked it up seeing that it was a Batman play set but not able to find any value online. It took a while to determine the name of the set, and unfortunately they do not sell for a lot, but it finally sold and making a small profit. I've seen these a few times since picking this one up and have passed on them - not enough meat on the bones. That is often the trouble with not being able to research something properly in the store, you take a gamble. While this gamble didn't pay off considerably, at least made a small profit.

Selling stuff on consignment

Bought: $37.50* Sold: $75.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $37.50

One of my mother's friends is moving out west in April, and asked if I would sell some of her stuff on eBay/Kijiji. We agreed on a 50/50 split, so I didn't actually spend anything on this TV, it is just half the sale price, leaving me with a profit of 50%. This was the first thing of hers that I sold, not surprisingly a TV sold quickly and for a decent profit. I hope the rest of the stuff sells soon.

Gottca Catch'em all!

Bought: $3.38 Sold: $16.66 Fees: $3.18 Profit: $10.10

This is a Pokemon Puzzle from 1999 featuring, what was then, the complete list of Pokemon. Pokemon has stayed in fashion and is still collectible, though I guess this puzzle was either mass produced enough to meet current demand 27 years later, or it is not that desirable because the market price for this was lower than I'd have expected. That being said, it sold and is off to Newfoundland. My first sale to the rock!

Thursday, March 10, 2016

Star Wars Toy!

Bought: $6.32 Sold: $20.00 Fees: $0.00 Profit: $13.68

This is a Star Wars AT-AT Walker toy from the 80's. I bought this at VV. It was just being put out as I was scanning the toy aisle. I was hoping it would sell for a bit more, but apparently it is missing a lot of parts to it. That being said, I managed to sell it on Kijiji for $20, and made a decent return on my investment. It was pretty cool - if I had a bigger house I might have been tempted to keep it.

Hipsters have a new desire - old Walkman cassette players

Bought: $3.38 Sold: $59.86 Fees: $4.17 Profit: $52.31

So, apparently, Walkman cassette players are back in fashion. This one not only sold for over $50, but it was BROKEN! This particular model (WM-F10 II), if working, can sell for close to $200 USD! That being said, not every model fetches this price, and for most models I've seen they fetch $20-40 for a working one. This was the first model I've seen that is this desirable for a broken one. I think this model is popular because it is made of metal, not plastic, is light-weight and compact, and looks classic. Not a bad investment at all when you can turn a few dollars into $50. Chris is credited with the finding of this one. He did okay.

Harry Potter in Lego!

Bought: $9.03 Sold: $26.59 Fees: $3.85 Profit: $13.71 - $6.86 for Chris = $6.85

This is a Lego Harry Potter Hogwarts board game that you have to first build. Lego has released a number of these. They will likely be worth more as time goes on and they become harder and harder to get a hold of. They are now out of print, but the market is pretty flooded. I probably paid too much for my copy, especially considering it wasn't complete. Chris had picked a copy up months ago and gave to me to sell for him at a 50/50 split. His copy wasn't complete either, but by combining the two I got a nearly complete set and it sold. So, I still have a box with about 50% of the pieces which I will keep in case I come across another incomplete set. That being said, Chris got half the profits from this sale, meaning my cut was overall not that worth it.

Who needs a dongle?

Bought: $2.25 Sold: $26.80 Fees: $3.62 Profit: $20.93

This sale is all Chris' work. He picked up a couple of video game dongles - wireless receivers that plug into your system that allow you to use various controllers. This one is for Rock Band and connects the wireless guitar. Chris picked a bunch of these up for me, at about $2 each. I was hesitant to list them - they seemed more work than they were worth - and I am always hesitant to electronics that I can't test. That being said, Chris was over earlier this week helping me photograph and list items and the first thing he packaged were the dongles. So with all the work done, I had no choice but to list them, and the first one has sold. Chris is quite proud of himself. They definitely have a very good ROI, and seem to sell. As long as I don't get this returned as not working, I will be a happy camper.

Vintage Bugs Bunny Game

Bought: $2.26 Sold: $23.92 Fees: $3.19 Profit: $18.47

This is a vintage Bugs Bunny game called "Under the Cawit" where players flip over tokens hoping to find carrots and not Elmer Fudd. It is a very basic game, and cheaply made, but people like Bugs Bunny. Chris picked this up at VV in Kingston for a few bucks, and it made a very nice profit.

Monday, March 7, 2016

Jumanji Board Game

Bought: $5.64 Sold: $15.96 Fees: $3.02 Profit: $7.30

This is a board game Chris picked up for me, and it is based off the game in the movie. This game typically sells well, but this copy was in rough shape. The box has ripped and torn, and while complete, some of the pieces were in rough shape and one piece was even taped together. I was on the fence about even listing it, but Chris packaged it up so I listed it. It did well, which is nice, and made a small profit. I'd buy this game again, but ideally in better condition.

Everyone loves fake food

Bought: $1.57 Sold: $13.35 Fees: $2.15 Profit: $9.63

These are a set of felt fake food I picked up for cheap at VV. I typically have done well selling fake food. These actually sold to someone in Ottawa, and they paid almost as much for shipping as she did for the item. I hope she likes them.

Who wants to be a Superstar?

Bought: $11.29 Sold: $38.77 Fees: $4.83 Profit: $22.65

This was a new in box item I picked up. It was pretty expensive to start with, and it sat not selling for a number of months. I finally lowered the asking price a bit and it sold pretty quickly. I may have it priced too high initially. It is a video game that connects to your TV and you can play the game on your TV. I am not quite sure of what it does beyond that. Typical rule is if I see something new in box, I look it up. This made a decent return on my investment.

Some Play-Doh to start off a night of selling!

Bought: $30.00 Sold: $33.41 Fees: $4.10 Profit: -$0.69

So tonight Chris came over and helped me prepare a bunch of things to list on Ebay, and while we were working away I sold four things - bringing my total for the day to 5 sales which I think is a new record. It was pretty good motivation to keep working.

This was a lot of various Play-Doh parts I had, mostly collected from other Play-Doh sets I had picked up and listed. The main part is the Fun Factory (the box in the back) that I got along with a Play-Doh Winnie the Pooh set off usedottawa for $30. The Winnie the Pooh is the one I wanted, and this one was just with it, so I threw it up with all my other random Play-Doh pieces. The sale of this lot almost completely covers the cost of the Fun Factory and Winnie, so when I do sell Winnie it will be almost pure profit.

Parts to Pokemon Monopoly

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $6.67 Fees: $1.43 Profit: $0.73

I picked up a copy of Pokemon Monopoly, which sells very well. Unfortunately it wasn't complete, and the board was in very rough shape. I decide to list the pieces separately, since they are all unique. I listed the houses and hotels together (which is what sold here), the money, the deed cards with the chance and community chess cards, and the only token that was in my set. I listed them all for $5 USD. This was the first to sell, and from this one sale I recouped my initial investment and made a very small profit. I am glad that I am no longer in the red for buying this incomplete game, and when the rest sell I'll make a small profit.

An old Apple Mouse

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $13.35 Fees: $2.23 Profit: $6.61

This is a Mac mouse from the iMac, one of their home computers from the 90's. This mouse was panned by critics and users - it's round shape made it hard to hold, the single button was never popular, and it was overall not well received. I bought it on the logic that Apple fanboys exist, and anything Apple will sell. I made a small profit, but I don't think I'd buy this model of mouse again unless I could get it much cheaper.

Another lot of Scotch 207 tapes

Bought: $0.00 Sold: $66.82 Fees: $4.88 Profit: $61.94

This is the 2nd lot of 5 Scotch 207 tapes. The cost of these five was included in my sale of the first five, so this sale was pure profit. I wish I had more of these to sell.

Disney VHS Tape

Bought: $0.25 Sold: $6.67 Fees: $1.38 Profit: $5.04

This is yet another Disney VHS tape. This is the second copy of this tape that I've sold. I am still not sold on selling VHS tapes. Yes, they are cheap to acquire, but so few of them are worth any money, they often take months to sell, and they don't sell for a whole ton. I'd much rather be making more money per item than just $5.

Yet another Avalon Hill game

Bought: $4.51 Sold: $40.09 Fees: $4.72 Profit: $30.86

This is a WW2 themed Avalon Hill board game. I got it for cheap, and flipped it for a nice ROI. Not too much to say about this one - Avalon Hill games continue to prove reliable sources of profit.

Pasta Maker

Bought: $23.72 Sold: $133.79 Fees: $14.51 Profit: $95.56

This is a 5-piece pasta maker. I am pretty sure it is vintage to the 70's or 80's, but regardless, was a big box and weighed about 30 pounds. It was for sale for $30 at VV, and with a 30% off coupon, it came to just over $20. I had it listed for about a month, and had a lot of low offers, but today someone bought it full price. It pays sometimes to pay a bit more for an item if the return is going to be good enough, but spending $20 to make $133 is worth doing any day of the week.

Robin refused to let me even open this in the living room when she was around, it was "too gross." She said that no one would ever buy it, and that she didn't even want it in the house. Not quite sure why used stainless steel is gross, but nonetheless, it sold, and...

Two sleeping bags are off to Switzerland!

Bought: $8.44 Sold: $49.76 Fees: $6.70 Profit: $34.62

Sold these two children's sleeping bags to the same person in Switzerland. I accepted offers on both, mainly because Robin hates them and has said they would never sell, and it was also nice to get rid of both of them at the same time. Shipping to Switzerland is expensive, and they opted for the cheapest (which was still $34 USD), which is "ground" with no tracking, and can take 4-6 weeks. I really hope they arrive there safely. These were the last two of my sleeping bags, and Robin has forbidden me from buying any more. Not quite sure why, since despite her insistence they would sell, all of the ones I've picked up have sold, and these two brought a nice profit! And now for everyone's favourite part of the blog...

First sale of the month

Bought: $2.25 Sold: $40.62 Fees: $4.72 Profit: $33.65

This is a Pokemon Pokedex from 1998. It stores and lists the first 150 Pokemon. It is collectible for Pokemon collectors, and if working and clean sells for about $40. This was a great buy, with a good ROI and pretty decent turn-around time of about 2 weeks. Hoping to find more of these, maybe this summer at garage sales. Also, nice to start off the month with an early sale - hopefully will turn the balance from February's disappointing sales.
